Blonde

Blonde is one of the year's most hotly anticipatedfilms - and as one of its most controversial. Based on thenovel by Joyce Carol Oates， it's a sprawling biopic of MarilynMonroe （Ana de Arrnas）， but it mixes fact and fiction. Its di-rector Andrew Dominik told Ben Dalton at Screen Daily. "Blonde is the best movie in the world right now. Blonde is aknockout. It' s a masterpiece."

Don't Worry Darling

Harry Styles and Florence Pugh play Jack and Alice， acouple living a seemingly-perfect life in 1950s America：they're young， beautiful and happily married， Jack has awell-paid job， Alice is friendly with the area' s other house-wives， and they live in a Californian desert town designed tobe a utopia. But， of course， something is very wrong - andJack's smug boss （Chris Pine） could be behind it. The secondfilm directed by Olivia Wilde， Don't Worry Darling is a psy-chological horror with unnerving echoes of The StepfordWives， The Truman Show and The Matrix. "I guess all of mymovies have that element of women being forced into a cor-ner， forced into an opinion， forced into a way of life，" Pughtold Andrea Cuttler at Harper's Bazaar. "And then finally，something cracks."

Pinocchio

Matteo Garrone made a wonderful Italian adaptation ofCarlo Collodi's classic novel in 2019， but that hasn'tstopped two big-name directors pitching in with their own ver-sions. In November， we're due to see Guillermo del Toro'sdarkly satirical stop-motion animation. But first we have Rob-ert Zemeckis's live-action / CGI remake of the Disney car-toon. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto the lonely carpenter， Ben-jamin Evan Ainsworth voices the wooden boy he carves， Cyn-thia Erivo is the Blue Fairy who brings Pinocchio to life， andJoseph Gordon-Levitt voices the animated Jimmy Cricket.Judging by the trailer， Zemeckis has followed the cartoonclosely， but whether he includes the scene in which Pinocchiosmokes a massive cigar remains to be seen.

See How They Run

It's the 1950s， Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan play ajaded police inspector and his over-eager protegee who areassigned to investigate a killing in a London theatre. AdrienBrody is the crewmember who meets a grisly end just as aplay's producers are planning to turn their hit show into afilm. And the suspects / potential next victims include DavidOyelowo， Ruth Wilson， Reece Shearsmith， Shirley Hendersonand Harris Dickinson， who plays a young Richard Attenbor-ough. Everything else about this farcical murder mystery is，well， a mystery， but， as with Knives Out， the less you know be-forehand， the more fun it should be.
