Wang Shuai
Abstract The co-produced films of the “Connecting the Two Sides”theme made since the signing of the 2010 ECFA Agreement can be roughly divided into the plot patterns of “searching roots in the Mainland”, “traveling to Taiwan”, and “cross-strait connection”. These films are co-authored by writers from both sides and directed by a number of Taiwanese directors. In the relationship between the roles the films set up cross-strait main roles and the narratives also include cities from both sides of the Strait. The plots are skillfully integrated into the crossstrait cultural connections while at the same time exploring the cultural differences beyond the regional identity, thus breaking the audience's viewing barrier and awakening the shared national feelings and awareness.
