Preface

Special Issues in Honor of Professors Sun-Yung Alice Chang and Paul Chien-Ping Yang

This is the first of three issues of the Journal of Mathematical Study in honor of Sun-Yung Alice Chang (张圣容) and Paul Chien-Ping Yang (杨建平), Professors of Mathematics at Princeton University, recognizing their profound contributions to geometry,analysis,and nonlinear partial differential equations.

The first issue begins with a survey of Alice and Paul’s mathematical work by Matthew Gursky,a former PhD student and longtime collaborator.All of the issues include articles on diverse topics in geometric analysis written by experts whose work has been inspired by Alice and Paul’s research.

It has been our honor and privilege to serve as the editors of these issues, and we wish to thank all authors for their contributions. We are also grateful to Alice and Paul for this opportunity.
