教材内容与分析

新目标英语八年级下册第八单元的语言目标是“谈论地理和自然”。在八年级上册学习了形容词和副词的比较级和最高级的基础上,Section A 的内容要求学生对形容词的各个级别进行更加深入的学习,主要涉及较大数字的表达,形容词比较级的修饰词,形容词的原级、比较级、最高级的一些特殊句型。本节课的内容丰富,学生可以在学习语法知识的同时领略珠穆朗玛峰、里海、撒哈拉沙漠、尼罗河、长城等世界之最的美景,从而陶冶他们热爱祖国、热爱自然的高尚情操。

教学目标

1.知识与技能:

(1)掌握本节课的重点词汇及短语: square, deep,population,Asia,feel free,tourist,ancient,amazing,protect,wide, as far as I know。

(2)学会表达较大的数字。例如:6,300 ;13,426 ;987。

(3)掌握本节课描述事物的关键句型:

A:Qomolangma is 8848.43 meters high.

B:Whats the highest mountain in the world?

C:Whats the population of China?

D:China is one of the oldest countries in the world?

E:China has a much longer history than the USA.

F:There is no other man-made objects as big as the Great Wall.

(4)灵活运用形容词的各种级别来描述人或事物的区别。

2.过程与方法:按照由浅入深、循序渐进的原则,通过小组合作、布置任务、师生互动等课堂活动引领学生掌握目标语言,培养学生自主探究、合作交流的能力。整合教材1a-2d资源,发散思维,写作输出,描述祖国之最,培养学生的写作能力。

3.情感态度与价值观:通过各种比较了解中国以及世界地理知识,培养学生热爱祖国、热爱自然的情怀。

教学重点、难点分析

教学重点:本节课的重点词汇、大数的表达及形容词的各个比较级别的句型。

教学难点:用形容词的比较级别描述人或事物。

教学方法及手段自主合作探究;任务型语言教学法;多媒体。

教學步骤

Step 1 Warming up

T:Greet to the class. Before studying the new lesson,lets watch a video recording about a great climber who was climbing a great mountain. And then answer my question.

Step 2 Leading in

T:Boys and girls,do you know what mountain it is ?

Ss:Is it Qomolangma?

T:Yes,thats right. There are so many famous places in the world. Do you want to visit them in the future?(Show them some pictures of the Nile,the Sahara and the Caspian Sea.)

Ss:Yes,we do./Thats for sure.

T:Please try your best to make your dream come true.Today I will lead you to enjoy the beauty of the places.

【设计意图】课前播放攀登珠穆朗玛峰的配乐视频带领学生进入一种激昂的挑战境界,引起他们的学习兴趣。展示其他世界之最的图片,为1a做铺垫。

Step 3 Presentation (Finish the tasks 1a-1c)

T:Lets check the preview of the new words: one student says out the Chinese meanings of the words,the other one spells them. Such two students form a group. (Decide two winners from three or four groups.)

T:All of you did well. Keep trying. In this lesson,we will compare some things with large numbers. Now please try to read these number after me:

135 ;796 ;3,250;13,568,213,000。

(Let the Ss have a discussion about how to sum up the methods of the reading and writing about the numbers. )

For example: 13 , 5 6 8 , 2 1 3 , 4 7 0

We can read like this: thirteen billion,five hundred and sixty-eight million,two hundred and thirteen thousand,four hundred and seventy.

(Ss read the numbers of Part 1a. The teacher checks the mistakes;then finish Part 1a. Match the places with the facts.Then make sentences such as: The Sahara is about 9,600,000s quare kilometers in size. Then make conversations like this.

S1:How high is Mount Qomolangma?

S2:Its 8848.43 meters high.

T:You have grasped the facts of the four places, now lets find out more characters of them. Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks.

(Ss finish the task of 1b and then sum up the usages of the comparative degree and the superlative degree of adjectives.)

T:Well done! We must pay attention to the usages:of all...; In the...; than any other ...

Then please recite the jingle to review the three degrees of adjectives.

(Ss口诀:“原级比较形容词、副词放在as... as 中间,比较级和than相连,最高级出现在of all...,in...,among...表示范围的短语前。”Look at the big screen and read the changing rules of the three degrees of adjectives and adverbs.)

T:Now please make conversations according to the information of 1b. (Ss make up some conversations in pairs.)

For example:

S1:Whats the deepest lake in the world?

S2:Its the Caspian Sea.

【設计意图】这四部分教学活动的设计使学生在单词挑战,复习语法的活动中,自主探究总结大数的读法,深入学习形容词的比较级、最高级,结对练习等学习活动使学生由浅入深、循序渐进地掌握目标语言。

T:I also have some pictures about China. Do you know what they are?

Ss:They are the Great Wall, the Yangtze River,the largest population of China.

T:You are clever enough to answer the questions. Now please listen to the tape and finish Part 2a and 2b. Then read the facts several times and prepare for Part 2c.

(Ss listen to and finish 2a-2c. Check the answers in their own groups,the teacher walks around and gives them help. )

For example:

S1:Do you know that China has the largest population in the world?

S2:Yes, I do. Its much larger than that of America.

【设计意图】通过听说训练让学生总结并熟练掌握形容词的原级、比较级、最高级在本课的拓展用法。比如much,a lot,even集中出现在此环节中的形容词比较级前表示比较的不同程度,最高级出现在one of... 或序数词后。

(Finish Part 2d.)

T:As we know, every Chinese person is proud of the Great Wall. Today please follow me and have a trip to the Great Wall. (Show them some pictures about it.)

(Ss read the dialogue and finish the following questions:)

.Whats the most popular question when people visit the Great Wall?

.Why did the ancient emperors build the Great Wall?

.Badaling is____ _____ _____(famous) part of the Ming Great Wall?

(After checking the answers,read in pairs and then try to act it out. )

T:There are some important language points.Now I will give you a task then you can have a discussion and grasp the usages of the phrases and the sentences.

【設计意图】将对话问题化,既训练了学生的思维能力,又加深了学生对对话的理解,接着在小组探究中掌握了对话的语言点和重点句子。

Step 4 Summary

Unit 7 Section A 1a-2d

(Sum up the teaching aims by explain the items of the chart.)

T:Boys and girls,our homeland — China, as one of the four great ancient civilizations,is an old country,full of beauty and fascination. She has 56 ethnic groups, complex and varied terrains,rich and diverse natural resources,long and great history and culture. I think we should be proud of our motherland and our Chinese people. You should work harder and hold on to your dream,I think you can achieve your dream to travel around our country one day.

【设计意图】师生互动,进一步深化重难点,培养学生的归纳概括能力,形成知识框架。结束语激励学生为伟大的祖国奋发图强,锐意进取。

Step 5 Homework

Write a passage about China. (According to 2a-2d and the pictures below:)

【设计意图】充分利用教材资源,设计图例,激发学生的写作兴趣。再次运用整合本节课的重点知识,在达到学以致用的教学目的的同时培养学生的民族自豪感,从而实现本节课的情感教育目标。

教学反思

1.本节课课型是一节新授课,设计了一系列的听说读写教学任务,学生在师生互动、生生互动的过程中掌握了重点词汇,较大数字的表达方法。

2.学生在经过初步感知较大数字读法及形容词比较、最高级的拓展用法之后,探究、讨论这些问题,达到感知—理解—共鸣—吸收的课堂教学效果。

3.有效地运用多媒体信息技术,实现了网络与英语课程的整合。事实证明播放恰当的有声视频更具有感染力,更能激发学生的学习兴趣。

4.由浅入深地呈现核心句式结构和目标语言,在各种比较中了解了一些有关世界之最和中国之最的地理知识。为了达到学以致用的目的,设计的家庭作业要求从中国悠久的历史,庞大的人口数量,著名的长江、黄河、高山、长城等方面写一篇作文,这项活动既整合了本节所学内容,又培养了他们的爱国主义情操。

5.各个环节的教学都充分调动了学生的学习主动性,启发学生思考问题,在小组合作、探究中完成任务,教师适当帮助,尽量不让一名学生掉队,使每名学生都成为课堂的主人。

总之,教师要为学生创设生动活泼的语言环境,把学生吸引到活动中去,激发他们主动参与学习的欲望。按课堂需要取材,合理地拓展教材、整合教材,把情感态度与价值观的教育巧妙地融入教学活动中是我们每节课备课的一个重要方面。
