Adhering to the combination of the basic principles of Marxism with the excellent traditional Chinese culture is a summary of the experience of the CPC in its theoretical construction and practical exploration over the past hundred years, and it is also an inevitable requirement to continue to promote thesinicization and modernization of Marxism on the new journey. The reason why the two can be combined is that they are compatible at the basic cha-racteristics, ideas, values, social ideals and other aspects. Focusing on the centennial history of the Party, our Party has attached great importance to promoting the combination of the two in different historical periods of saving, building, enriching and strengthening the country. EvolutionofthePositionofChengmenXiaoweiMilitaryOfficerintheNorthernWeiDynastyinthePerspectiveofAristocracyby XIE Mengdi P.30
The position of Chengmen Xiaowei (military officer) was set up by Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, in charge of the city gate imperial guards, to strengthen the defense of the capital. It was roughly the same in the Han Dynasty, the Cao Wei Dynasty and the Western Jin Dynasty, but changed in the Northern Wei Dynasty. The personnel selection turned to be highly patriarchal and scholar oriented. During the complex political changes in the Northern Wei Dynasty, the duty of Chengmen Xiaowei to guard the capital was taken away, and became an idle official and the position began to decline. During the Northern Qi Dynasty, the Northern Zhou Dynasty and the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Chengmen Xiaowei gradually lost the military function and evolved into a soldier who simply opened and closed the city gate. The Northern Wei Dynasty was actually the watershed of the demise of Chengmen Xiaowei. In this process, the aristocracy orientation, scholar orientation, and sinecure post orientation of Chengmen Xiaowei in the Northern Wei Dynasty were not isolated, but were in an internal intertwined and interactive state.
