父亲节快乐

Father’s Day is on the third Sunday of June. Father’s Day and Mother’s Day began in America.

Mrs. John B Dodd， of Washington， first proposed the idea of a “father’s day” in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father William， whose wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn; and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.

In June 1910， Americans celebrated the first Father’s Day. If his or her father was still alive， he or she wore a red rose in the front. To the late father， he or she wore a white rose.

Nowadays， on Father’s Day， children will prepare a rich breakfast meal for fathers by themselves. And children will either make many small gifts or send fathers kinds of presents， such as ties， cigars， books， golf clubs and so on.

父親节是在六月的第三个星期天。父亲节和母亲节都是从美国开始的。

华盛顿州的约翰·布鲁斯·多德夫人在1909年首先提出了设立“父亲节”的提议。多德夫人希望有一个特殊的日子来向她的父亲——威廉·斯玛特表示敬意。他的妻子在生他们第六个孩子时因难产而离世。斯玛特先生在华盛顿州东部乡下的农场里独自养大了六个孩子。多德太太成人后她才意识到她的父亲一个人养大孩子所表现的力量和无私。

在1910年6月，美国人庆祝了第一个“父亲节”。当时凡是父亲健在的人都在胸前佩戴一朵红玫瑰花;而父亲已故的人，则佩戴一朵白玫瑰。

现在，在父亲节当天，子女们要自己动手为父亲做一顿丰盛的早餐。不仅如此，孩子们还要给父亲制作一些精美的小礼品，或者送给他们领带、雪茄烟、书、男用香水等礼品。
