Abstract：From the perspective of history，this paper studies the relationship between maps，tujing and local chronicles.Tujing is the result of the development of maps or illustrations combined with explanatory text.With the increasing number of tujing，the records of maps of landscape and cityscape emerge and maps also appear in different varieties.As an important part of local chronicles，maps have important material and academic value.Although the compilation of new local chronicles attaches great importance to the role of maps，still there are some problems can be improved and perfected with new means and methods by referring to the historical and cultural tradition of local chronicles compilation.

Abstract：This paper systematically expounds the evolution of the concept nature of local chronicles compilation and the transformation of writing styles.This paper holds that the evolution of the concept nature of local chronicles compilation can be divided into four stages：the object narration as the mainstream；the subject narration as the mainstream；the parallel narration of object and subject；the unified narration of subject and object as the mainstream.The transformation of writing styles can also be classified into four stages：the mainstream of narration rather than comment；the mainstream of both narration and comment；the parallel narration of object and subject；the mainstream of narration with comment.

Abstract：The historical origin of Local Chronicles Study has been widely discussed in academic circles.There are many factors influencing the historical origin and development direction of Local Chronicles Study.For example，the emergence and development of Local Chronicles Study as a discipline system is mainly determined by its own internal development law，and as an ideology，the Local Chronicles Study is inevitably affected by social forms and other aspects of the contemporary ideological sphere.On the basis of considering these factors，and by referring to the extant scholarly findings，the author tries to study and discuss the emergence and development context of Local Chronicles Study in a differentiated way.

Abstract：The core theory of＂concept of local chronicles＂should be＂the problem of values＂on philosophical and historical aspects based on the＂homology of history and local chronicles＂.The values of ancient and modern local chronicles，in a nut shell，are nothing more than＂preserving history，educating people，and offering experience and lessons for governing＂.However，due to the differences of social forms，the values of traditional local chronicles are mainly guided by＂the way of Confucius and Mencius＂（＂Four Books and Five Classics”and other thoughts）to expound the words of the kings and emperors，preserve history for aristocratic families，and record deeds of the local sages，aiming to maintain the＂feudal orthodoxy＂.In the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics，the values of local chronicles should be guided by the dialectical materialism and historical materialism，and the compilation of the local chronicles should expound the ideas of the Party，preserve the history of the country and record deeds of the people so as to maintain the＂socialist core values＂.＂Good local chronicles＂must bear＂positive ideas＂.In the new era，only by taking the foothold of contemporary civilization，and holding correct concept of local chronicles，can the local chronicles compiled truly achieve its ultimate purposes：help the governing body＂grasp a lot of development laws within＂；pass down the memory for the ordinary people and retain their nostalgia.Only in this way can it be called＂recording history and great learning to inspire the future＂.

Abstract：Yan Song was the author of bothYuanzhou Prefecture Annals in the Zhengde Period and Yuanzhou Prefecture Annals inthe Jiajing Period of the Ming dynasty.He had made great achievements in local chronicles both in terms of practice and theory.Although today we can't find Yan Song's complete and systematic work on local chronicles theory，his ideas and views were implemented in his practice in compiling local chronicles.He believed that annals are historical records and the function of compiling annals lies in＂chronicling the history and demonstrating the law＂；the principle of compilation is to seek truth from facts and write down the truth.In term of the compiling methods，he advocated to make in-depth textual research，innovate style and attach importance to material collection.These theories have important implications for future generations in compiling local chronicles.

Abstract：Based on the re-examination of some of the first and second rounds of published local chronicles about cultural relics，this paper proposes that it is necessary for the yet to be published second and third rounds of local chronicles to expand from recording cultural relics to documenting cultural heritage.Not only should the general picture of local tangible and intangible cultural heritage be presented in the National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities and Towns declared by the State Council，but the historic and cultural content that made them possible to be listed as NationalFamous Historical and Cultural Cities and Townsalso need to be accounted.

Abstract：It has become a consensus in the field to adopt the vernacular writing style in compiling local chronicles.Records and narration cannot be separated from language.We should pursue the beauty of language，and local chronicle language should be no exception.The new local chronicles are less than satisfactory in terms of language，such as being too rigid in the narrative style，ignoring the language beauty of the local chronicles，and weakening the readability of the local chronicles.Some people argue that local chronicles are informative works and do not need to pursue the beauty of language.This idea is unacceptable.In fact，the beauty of language has always been the goal of local chronicles and the requirement in compiling local chronicles.There must be a defined objective to this：the beauty of conciseness，the beauty of modesty，and the beauty of elaboration.We should hold on to this，especially in the current situation when many people misunderstand that the local chronicles are less cultured.

Abstract：There are abundant and systematic records about＂local products＂in the“Shanghai Prefectures Old Records Series＂，which is a treasure house for understanding and studying Shanghai's natural resources and evolution thereof，as well as Shanghai's social development.By taking the records of Shanghai County Annalsin the Tongzhi Period of the Qing dynastyand the Continuation of Shanghai County Annalsin the Republic of China as examples，this paper explores the transformation of natural resources，people's living conditions and the development of commodity economy in Shanghai by viewing the historical period of the late years of Qing before Shanghai County developed into Shanghai Metropolis.To study the rationality and feasibility of the records of local products in the old annals is also of great significance for the compilation of local products parts in the contemporary local chronicles.

Abstract：Zhu Ruzhen，born in Qingyuan，Guangdong，the second place in the last Imperial Examination of the late Qing，was a famous contemporary calligrapher，jurist and local chronicler.At present，the archaeology and museology world only focuses on Zhu's calligraphy achievements and influence.Based on the Republic of China Edition of Qingyuan County Annals and Yangshan County Annals compiled under Zhu's auspices，by analysing the styles and content of the two annals，this paper discusses the ideas and principles of compiling the local chronicles proposed by him-“based on local conditions of the time”and“the sole purpose of preserving historical documents”.

·Research on the Compilation Style and Literature Value of Shanghai County Annals in Tongzhi PeriodShen Yongqing（71）

Abstract：Shanghai County Annals in Tongzhi Period was based on Shanghai County Annals in Jiaqing Period.Its style inherited and innovated that of the Jiaqing version.In terms of the categories，it highlighted the local conditions and human environment of Shanghai，with distinctive characteristics of the times and rich and accurate content.The Tongzhi version is a rare document for the study of Shanghai's ancient and modern history.The content of this annals need to be further explored in order to fully realize its literature value.The compilation features also have reference significance for the compilation of new local chronicles.Due to historical limitations and other reasons，Shanghai County Annalsin Tongzhi Period has some errors and other defects in its content，but it is still worthy of being explored as a famous local chronicle of the Qing dynasty.

Abstract：The ancient city wall of Qingpu has a history of nearly 400 years from when it was first built in the2nd year of Wanli Period of the Ming dynasty（1574）to when it was demolished in 1958.This paper briefly describes the history of the construction and repair of the ancient city wall of Qingpu，studies the use and quality control of the bricks and the source of funds for the construction and maintenance of the city wall through textual research.It also makes an analysis to the military status and value of the ancient city wall.

·Research on the Bypassing Phenomenon of the Nationalist Army in the Battle of ShanghaiLin Kun（85）

Abstract：Bypassing command refers to the high-level officers directly convey orders to a certain army by stepping over one or several levels by virtue of their own authority.This behaviour has been widely criticized and denied for a long time，but in fact，in addition to the bypassing command，there is also a bottom-up bypassing report.Taking the Battle of Shanghai as an example，this paper analyses the bypassing command and report in the interaction between the upper and lower levels of the Nationalist Army in wartime，explores another hierarchy phenomenon of bypassing，and sums up the causes of the bypassing phenomenon from the support of the telecommunication system，and thus reflects the positive and negative interactive effects of the bypassing phenomenon on the combat effectiveness of the Nationalist Army.
