Use questionnaire to prove that motivation affecting SLA among middle school students.
The goal of the questionnaire
On the basis of experts and linguists standpoint on motivation affecting SLA. This questionnaire is through students answer the questionnaire, aims at to explore if there is relativity between motivation and students English achievement or the ability of learning English.
Object of questionnaire
The investigation chooses Kashgar, Ze Pu countys second and fifth schools students to research, they are from two different levels, that are the key classes and general classes, the total number amounts to 200.
The result and analysis of the questionnaire
1). The result of the questionnaire are as follows, A stand for agree, B stand for disagree.
2). The analysis of the questionnaire
First lets look at question NO.1, 97%students are very interested in English in key classes, however only 70%students express their interest in English study. Obviously, more students in key class are interested in English study. For question NO.2 18% students learn English because of the force of school and parents in general classes. But only 2% students agree that in key classes. Obviously, more students in general classes learn English because of the force of school and parents, they are not willing to learning English. Lets move to question NO.3 22% students learn English is to pass exam in general classes, but only 6%students agree that in key classes, obviously more students in general classes study English express their opinion that they learn English is only to pass exam, they regard English as a tool not really want to learn it, if there isnt have English classes they wont learn it possibly. Lets look at question NO.4 97%students will still learn English although school dont set up English classes in key classes. This phenomenon shows that nearly all students in key classes willing to learn English no matter there is English classes or not, compare with key classes, 72%students willing to learn English if there isnt English classes in general classes. Let move to question NO.5, 20% students express their opinion that they wont learn English if they neednt to learn in general classes, but nearly all students disagree it in key classes, this phenomenon shows that there are more students wont learn English if they neednt to learn. For question NO.6 99%students in key classes agree that English is important, because it is useful to their future development. 86%students agree that, this data shows that, most of students realize the importance of learning English not only in key classes but also in general classes. Lets look at question No.7,97%students agree that they read English newspaper、magazines or foreign film actively in their spare time in key classes. Compare with them 56%students agree that in general classes, the data shows that students in key classes are more likely to study English as possible as they can in their spare time. For question NO.8, nearly all students in key classes agree that they hope through their efforts of learning English. They can get acknowledgement of the ability from teacher、classmates and parents. 78%students agree that in general classes, this phenomenon shows the psychology trait of middle school students, most of students want to learn English well.No.9, nearly all students in key classes find chance to take part in English activities, but only 45% students willing to do that in general classes, this data shows that students in key classes are more likely to grasp chance to learn English, they want to improve their English through taking part in English activities.For question NO.10, 41%students learn English is to go abroad in key classes and 37%students agree that in general classes, this data shows that the number of students who want to go abroad are nearly equal in key classes and general classes.
