潘天寿的《松鹰》为其指墨画名作,充分体现其艺术追求,足见其在20世纪40年代末之艺术水准。鹰的全身由淡墨平涂而毛羽丰茸,一片化机,淡而弥永。它那眈眈俯视的雄姿,神俊不凡,生气勃勃。全幅布局突出鹰主题,不多着墨,只配上两根松枝和一块岩石,余皆空白,宽广的空间不着一笔,这是“天高任鸟飞”的典型环境,意趣之高,正在笔墨之外。
As a representative artwork of his finger painting,theEagle on Pinesof PAN Tianshou fully reflects his artistic pursuit and his level in the late 1940s.The whole eagle body was drawn by light ink with plump feathers, majestic look with extraordinary vibrancy. The comprehensive layout highlights the theme of eagle without much ink, coupling with two pine branches, a rock and vast area of emptiness, a typical atmosphere for Vast Sky Breeds Soaring Feathers.
