At 12:12 Beijing time on January 19,a LM-11 solid launch vehicle lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center with Jilin 1-07 and 08 satellites and other 4 small satellites. The 6 satellites entered their preset orbit precisely.
This mission is another breakthrough for launching multiple satellites on one LM-11 rocket since the rocket launched 4 satellites at one time in 2015 and 5 satellites at one time in 2016.
In addition to Jilin 1-07 and 08 two primary commercial satellites, the other 4 piggybacked commercial satellites are 3 domestic made satellites, “Xiangjiang New Area”, “Quantutong”, “Huaian” and a Canadian small satellite.
This was the maiden commercial flight conducted by LM-11 as well as the first international launch service provided by China’s solid launch vehicle, marking the start of high-density launch missions for commercial small satellite networking using solid launch vehicles.
The LM-11 launch vehicle was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. It is 20.8 m long, with 2.0 m diameter, weighing 58 tones with 120 tons of liftoff thrust. The launch capacity to low Earth orbit is 700 kg and over 400 kg to 700 km- sunsynchronous orbit.
Through technical innovation, the launch capacity of LM-11 has been improved by 20% compared with the previous version, the satellite adaptability, system reliability, launch economy and the contractual capacity have been improved greatly as well.
This is the 264th flight of China’s LM series launch vehicle.
