大学英语趣味课堂教学设计
——以“Career Planning”单元为例

浙大版《新编大学英语综合教程3》第4单元“Career Planning”,主要分析如何对未来职业进行合理规划。文本内容较为抽象,教师在讲解前可增加趣味性内容,让学生翻译幽默短对话、列出感兴趣的职业并排序、分组讨论影响职业满意度的因素等,以达到良好的师生互动、生生互动的教学效果。

一、翻译幽默求职短对话

(一)面试方(M):你谈女朋友了吗?

求职方(Q):是的。

M:她在本市吗?

Q:不,她在别的城市。

M:很抱歉,我们不能聘用你。

Q:为什么?

M:你不会在此安心工作的。而且,本公司也不希望因为你而使长途电话费大幅度增加。[1]

Interviewer: Do you have a girlfriend ?

Applicant:Yes.

I:Is she in this city ?

A:No,she is in another city.

I:We’re greatly sorry that we will not employ you.

A:Why not ?

I:You would not be setting your mind on your work.What’s more,we do not want to see our telephone bill increase enormously because of you.

(二)M:你谈男朋友了吗?

Q:没有。

M:你工作后准备谈男朋友吗?

Q:我首先要专心致志地工作,目前不考虑个人婚姻问题。

M:非常抱歉,本公司不能录用你。

Q:为什么?

M:你公关能力欠佳,况且缺乏自信。[1]

I:Do you have a boyfriend?

A:No.

I:Do you want to date boys after you have got a job ?

A:First I will concentrate my mind on work.Now I will not consider my marriage.

I:We’re very sorry that we will not hire you.

A:Why not ?

I:You lack the ability of dealing with interpersonal relationships.In addition,you lack confidence in yourself.

二、按首字母列出感兴趣的职业并排序

A:Accountant,actor,architect,artist,astronaut,auto-repairman

三、列举影响职业满意度的因素并排序

2.lots of perks(工资以外的实物或好处),e.g.a company car,reimbursing travel expenses,vacation

3.good promotion prospects

4.good location(near bus stop,highway,metro,etc.)

5.a pleasant,friendly working atmosphere

6.short working hours-not more than 35 hours a week

7.a good boss

8.restaurant in the building

9.pleasant colleagues

10.opportunities for professional development

11.suitable for one’s natural/professional talents/skills

12.opportunities for travel,especially going abroad

13.day care facilities

14.school nearby

15.clean environment
