plum blossoms

bloom in the palace garden;

peach and pear

follow one after the other;

in peasant villages,

and elm trees

join in as if to say,

"The spring wind

has made us all this way."

春风先发苑中梅，

樱杏桃梨次第开。

荠花榆荚深村里，

亦道春风为我来。
