Don't Work for Money

My advice to all of you is, don't work for money, —it will wear out①wear out 磨损，耗尽；穿破；使精疲力竭fast, or you'll never make enough, and you'll never be happy, one or the other.

You have to find the intersection②intersection 英 [ɪntə'sekʃ(ə)n] 美 [,ɪntɚ'sɛkʃən] n. 交叉；十字路口；交集；交叉点of doing something you are passionate③passionate 英 ['pæʃ(ə)nət] 美 ['pæʃənət] adj. 热情的；热烈的，激昂的；易怒的 ④prof i ts 美 ['prɑfɪt] n. [会计] 收益，红利；盈利（prof i t的复数）about and at the same time something that is in the service of other people.

I would agree that, if you don't fi nd that intersection, you're not going to be very happy in life.

There's a big difference between loving to work and loving the work. And there's a big difference between whether you fall in love with some work that is just for prof i ts④and revenues⑤revenue ['revənjuː] n. 税收，国家的收入；收益and work that is in the service of others. And so I feel very strongly about that.

I've been very fortunate⑥fortunate 英 ['fɔːtʃ(ə)nət] 美 ['fɔrtʃənət] adj. 幸运的；侥幸的；吉祥的；带来幸运的to wind up with an incredible⑦incredible 英 [ɪn'kredɪb(ə)l] 美 [ɪn'krɛdəbl] adj. 难以置信的，惊人的company where I am very passionate about what we do and it also stands at the exact⑧exact 英 [ɪg'zækt; eg-] 美 [ɪɡ'zækt] adj. 准确的，精密的；精确的vt. 要求；强求；急需vi. 勒索钱财intersection of my values.

我对所有人的建议是：不要为钱而工作。因为你挣的钱很快就会耗尽；或者你永远不会快乐，因为你对钱

总是不满足，这两个原因非此即彼。

你必须得找到一个契合点——做一件你满怀热情的事情，同时这件事情又能造福他人。

我认为，如果你找不到那样一个契合点，你将不会有一个快乐的人生。

热爱工作和热爱某份工作有巨大差异。热爱一份赚钱的工作和热爱一份造福他人的工作同样也有巨大差异。我对此有强烈感触。我非常幸运得以操盘一家伟大的公司，在这里我对我们做的事情非常有热情，同时，它确实也站在我的各种价值观的契合点上。
