Tim Cook, chief executive offi cer of U.S Apple lnc. Visited Chongqing
On August 17, Mayor Huang Qifan met Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple Inc. and Terry Gou, the president of Foxconn Technology Group, and expressed the hope that Apple Inc. will further expands its industrial chain in China and carry out in-depth cooperation with Chongqing. Cook said that he saw many young people in the Apple retail store at Jiefangbei, and from them he felt the vitality of Chongqing. Apple Inc. would increase investment in China, and actively participate in “Internet +” action and Chinese intelligent manufacturing. Vice mayor Mu Huaping also attended the meeting.

On July 25, Zhang Guoqing, the deputy secretary of municipal Party committee met with cadre delegation of the Republic of Argentina in Chongqing. Zhang Guoqing introduced Chongqing's economic and social development situation, and expressed the hope to strengthen cooperation with Argentina local governments in the field of rail transport, roads, bridges, hydroelectricity, and garbage disposal, etc.
Carmen Polledo, the vice chairman of Buenos Aires City of the Argentine Republic and the first deputy speaker of Buenos Aires City Council said that in recent years, Chongqing has made great achievements in economy and social development, and Argentina is ready to strengthen exchanges with Chongqing, deepen cooperation, and promote each other for common development.

Kazakhstan media delegation praises “Chongqing lntelligence Manufacturing”
From August 6 to 7, “Reading China”, the media delegation of Kazakhstan, visited Liangjiang New Area Planning Exhibition Hall, Chang'an Group R & D center, CSIC (Chongqing) Haizhuang Windpower Equipment Co., Ltd., Chongqing rail transit (Group) Co., Ltd., Osell, Three Gorges Museum, Jiangbeizui CBD etc., understanding Chongqing's economic and social development in multi angles and three dimensions. The Kazakh media reporter of Pioneer and Times repeatedly praised the advanced level and developing achievements of “Chongqing Intelligence Manufacturing” and said that they would report what they saw and learned here after returning home, letting the people of Kazakhstan know about Chongqing.
It's learned that from August 26 to September 2, in the activity of “Reading China” held in Kazakhstan, Chongqing municipal government Information Offi ce takes the lead to establish "China Pavilion" and holds "Intelligence and life"- 2016 China Intelligence Manufacturing Exhibition in National Library of Kazakhstan.
The restoration of French Consulate former site was completed
On August 8, the restoration of French Consulate former site at No 35, Fenghuangtai, Nanji Gate, Yuzhong District was completed and accepted. It is the key cultural relic site under the state protection. In February, 1896, the Qing Dynasty negotiated with France and allowed it to set consulate in Chongqing to govern trade, French nationals and other matters within Sichuan, Guizhou, Gansu, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Tibet and so on. In 1898, the consulate was built. With a long history of 118 years, it witnessed that Chongqing opened treaty ports over a hundred years ago. According to relevant department, it would be built as the fi rst project of mother city culture at Shibati, Yuzhong District, and it also will open to the public as diplomatic history museum of war of resistance.

Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, visited Chongqing
From August 13 - 14, Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, and his wife visited Chongqing. On August 13, Mayor Huang Qifan met with them, and the two sides had a friendly discussion on strengthening cooperation. Ranil Wickremesinghe welcomed Chonging enterprises to invest in Sri Lanka and participate in the construction of their economy, and hoped that Sri Lanka and Chongqing would achieve mutual benefits and win-win development in deepening cooperation. During visiting Chongqing, Ranil Wickremesinghe successively went to Xigang Global Purchasing Spot, Stilwell Museum, Zhou Residence, Guoyuan Port, Shuguang Industrial Park in Ba'nan District, Chinese-Singapore (Chongqing) Project Management Bureau, Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (Group) Co., Ltd, Xiantao BigData Valley, etc. Vice Mayor Liu Guiping also attended the meeting.
Chinese young professionals in Hong Kong visited Chongqing
From August 11 to 14, Zhu, Liu, the deputy inspector of Foreign Department of State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Offi ce led a group of Chinese young professionals of Hong Kong to visit Chongqing. They all comes from Canadian Chinese Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Chinese-British Network, HKFOCA, etc.
On August 12, Yang Daqing, the deputy director of Foreign Affairs Office of Municipal Government, had an informal discussion with them. Yang Daqing introduced Chongqing's history, development characteristics and advantages as well as the exchanges status between Chongqing and Hong Kong, listened to the delegation on advices to strengthen exchange between both sides. Suggestions about the direction of overseas Chinese youth promoting Chongqing to cooperate and communicate with Canada and Hong Kong are proposed. Yang Daqing also responded to the status of the information platform about overseas Chinese being involved in mainland development and matters about strengthening exchanges between Chongqing and Hong-Kong young professionals, such as short-term training, internships, and cultural exchanges, etc.

On August 16, Vice mayor Mu Huaping met with Martin Donnelly, the Permanent Undersecretary of British Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Department and the substitute Permanent Undersecretary of International Trade Department. The both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the fi eld of trade, energy and so on. Cecille El Beleidi, the British Consul General in Chongqing and Wang Wen, the deputy director of the Municipal Government Foreign Affairs Offi ce also attended the meeting.
