The Wonder of Wonders

I saw a peacock with a fiery tail,

I saw a blazing comet drop down hail,

I saw a cloud with ivy curled all around,

I saw a sturdy oak creep on the ground.

I saw an ant swallow up a whale,

I saw a raging sea brim full of ale,

I saw a Venice glass sixteen feet deep,

I saw a well full of men’s tears that weep.

I saw many eyes all in a flame of fire,

I saw a house high as the moon and higher,

I saw the sun at twelve o’clock at night,

I saw the man who saw this wondrous sight.

我看见孔雀的尾巴在燃烧，

我看见炽热的流星下冰雹，

我看见一朵乌云被常春藤环绕，

我看见坚挺的橡树贴地跑。

我看见蚂蚁正在吞鲸鱼，

我看见怒吼的大海酒浆四溢，

我看见十六尺厚的威尼斯彩色玻璃，

我看见装满眼泪的水井在哭泣。

我看见许多眼睛闪着火苗，

我看见一座房子比月亮还高，

我看见夜里十二点太阳高照，

我看见一个人他曾把这些奇观瞧。
