【Key Word】suggestions; preview; learning English
Preview is an important part in the process of learning English.Firstly, students should put away the idea of contempt on preview. As a student, he/she should understand the importance of preview in the process of English learning. They may achieve the intentions of the preview before learning.Secondly, students should arrange the reasonable time in previewing and arrange their learning tasks well.Students must initially understand what they want to learn about the new content by preview. After that, they may know what knowledge has to understand and what knowledge they do not understood. When they attend the lectures, they may have the purpose to arrange a time and takes notes carefully.Several suggestions are provided for the preview(刘润清,56).
Suggestions for students
As the saying goes “there is a will, there is a way”.At the beginning of learning, when someone decides to preview something, he/she cannot insist for a long time. However, attitude is an importance thing. On the one hand, if you have a favorable attitude towards the English learning, you are more likely to be motivated.Because of favorable attitudes, it will enhance your wish for more intensive contact with the English learning(桂师春,78).For example, if students can insist on previewing the text before they attending the English class, their English can be improved unconsciously. And the plan of preview is necessary and it can make the preview be done with purpose. However, it should be noted that the time of preview should not be long.Because studies have shown that students can focus on one thing for only 20 minutes. When the plan of preview is formulated, the time must be reasonable and it should not be too short or too long.
Suggestions for parents
As parents, on the one hand they should try to minimize the burden of students from extracurricular so that it can make the students have enough time to preview before the class and improve the studentsinterests in English learning. For example, parents should try to make their children avoid joining the English training school without caring their childrens heavy burden of homework. On the other hand, parents should supervise the students to preview the English and check the results of preview (张维友,89).Parents can help their children develop a plan of previewing English and supervise them finish it on time.
Suggestions for teachers
“Teachers should increase the intensity of the preview in English teaching. The teachers can change the teaching method appropriately such as changing the traditional method of teaching” (Harmer 86).During the process, students should be allowed to take the initiative into the environment of English learning and to enhance their interest in English. The Dulangkou teaching model is a good example for the modern English teaching.Studentsself-study ability is emphasized and the preview is an important part in the English teaching.
Besides, teachers should give a scientific guidance to the studentspreview and learn about the problems in the process of preview. And the detailed explanation for the students should be done to the important points that the students do not understand.Last but not the least; English teachers should use appropriate teaching theory as a guide to act as the organizers, managers and promoters to formulate scientific programs of teaching. For example, teachers can design different kinds of problems about words, grammar, sentence structure, and text and so on.Students should be required to preview before the class in order to cultivate the ability of self-study.Whats more, the check of the task about preview must not be neglected.
