REFLECTIONS PATHOPHYSIOLOGY TEACHING REFORM IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AND ITS ROLE IN MEDICAL EDUCATION

With a rapid development in life sciences,and high attentions of people on health and disease,innovations in medical education of twenty-first century is imperative in order to cultivate high-quality medical students which should have necessary knowledge,skills,good attitudes and abilities to meet the challenge of the expanding body of medical knowledge and the social demands.Pathophysiology is a subject to study laws of diseases about their occurrence,development and outcome,that is to say,to clarify the essence of diseases.Pathophysiology is the theoretical basis for the understanding of disease and disease prevention.As an important bridge course connecting basic medicine and clinical medicine,nowadays pathophysiology is deeply involved in global teaching action,the medical education reform,which covers a large amount of debates on curriculum development,teaching methodology,student assessment,curriculum evaluation,career planning,teacher training,continuing professional development,and so on.Under consideration of the teaching practice of pathophysiology theories and experiments,and the mission of medical undergraduate education,this article address some thinkings to some topics of the pathophysiology teaching reform on undergraduate education:the curriculum integration and development,the traditional and PBL teaching methods,and the occupation plan and early-differenti ation teaching.
