雾剂中的第一例产品。

该喷雾剂名为“哈洛口腔杀菌剂”(Halo),由美国克利夫兰的奥西斯消费者卫生保健公司开发。“呼吸道疾病是造成全世界发病及死亡的主要原因,但在病毒感染预防方面的努力却收效甚微。”论文领导作者、凯斯西储大学医学院副教授弗兰克·埃斯珀说,“我们的新产品是唯一能保护人们免于空气传播流感病毒和鼻病毒感染的喷雾剂。”

研究小组用甘油和黄原胶作为一种微生物屏障,并与广谱抗感染制剂氯化十六烷吡啶(CPC)结合,以此抵抗多种呼吸道疾病。他们用2009年普遍流行的H1N1病毒作原型,在细胞培养化验中检验了喷雾剂的抗感染效力。

“甘油和黄原胶能捕获空气中的微生物,阻止其进入人体系统,而CPC能杀死它们。”埃斯珀解释说。他在会议上报告了Halo在辅助抗感染,降低流行性、不定期及普遍流行性呼吸道病毒感染疾病方面的显著效益,Halo尤其能帮助那些由于慢性肺病等因素免疫机能受损而更容易感染严重呼吸道疾病的病人,以及在军队使用。

该校医学院医学真菌学中心主任穆罕默德·甘诺姆报告了Halo在抵抗病原菌方面的效果。

他指出,空气传播病原菌通常都是由口腔进入人体,导致呼吸系统感染,瞄准这些细菌是一种预防感染的有效途径。此外,初期数据还显示,Halo能完全杀死百日咳博德特氏菌的11个临床菌种。检验结果表明,一个人使用3次Halo喷雾剂,能使药效维持6个小时,以杀死吸入空气中的细菌,即使吃饭、喝饮料也不受影响。

“人们不可避免地要暴露在空气微生物中,尤其在拥挤的环境和外出旅行时。”甘诺姆说,“这种喷雾剂和其他增强免疫机能产品、抗物体表面或手上细菌的产品不同,Halo是第一例能保护人们免受空气传播微生物感染的同类产品。”

New Oral Spray Invented that Kills 99.9% Of Airborne Germs

A new oral spray that claims to kill 99.9% of infectious airborne germs could mean the end of flu and the common cold as we know it.The fi rst of its kind oral antiseptic spray promises to end the suff ering of millions of people across the world, as the spray protects from any germs breathed in for six hours.The spray known as Halo Oral Antiseptic has been found to be 99.9% effective in killing airborne germs that lead to infections.

Dr Frank Esper, from the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, stated that respiratory tract disease is a major cause of mortality across the globe; however there has been little research into the prevention of respiratory virus infections compared to other diseases.The Halo Oral spray is a unique product as it offers protection from a number of airborne germs including infl uenza and rhinovirus.The spray is created by using glycerine and xanthan gum as a microbial barrier, combined with cetylpyridinium chloride as an anti-infective agent to fi ght respiratory illnesses.

In order to test the performance of the oral spray, strains of the H1N1 virus that caused a pandemic in 2009 were used to test the anti-infective abilities of the Halo spray.Dr Esper said that the glycerine and xanthan gum stopped the germs from entering and reacting with a person’s system and the cetylpyridinium chloride killed the germ.It is believed the spray will be an excellent defence in preventing disease from epidemic, sporadic or pandemic respiratory viral infections and help fight against infection.Where the spray will come in to its own will be when used to protect those particularly vulnerable to respiratory illnesses, including those with poor immune systems, those with lung disease and military personnel.

A second study was also undertaken to highlight the effectiveness of the Halo’s power against disease causing pathogenic germs.It was shown that airborne infections are otien passed through the mouth meaning that the oral spray is a highly eff ective method to stop the spread of these infections.Preliminary data from the research also discovered that Halo killed all of the 11 clinical strains of whooping cough when testing the spray.

When using three sprays of Halo, it has the ability to destroy airborne germs that are breathed in for up to six hours –this also includes when a person is eating or drinking.This will be especially useful when a person finds themselves in a crowded environment such as at work, public places and on public transport.Halo is actually the first and only product that off ers protection from airborne germs available on the market.
