November 7,2014; Hynes Convention Center,Boston,MA,USA
Course Directors:Paul J.Gaglio,Sr.,MD; Miguel Navasa,MD; and John F.Renz,MD,PhD.With the worldwide application of liver transplantation, the need for a stimulating clinical and translational research environment has never been greater. However,a number of US donor and recipient metrics over the past decade- -including wait-list mortality, donor utilization, and application of living donation--suggest a systemic plateau. This course will help you recognize new opportunities while identifying clinical and scientific catalysts for innovation in transplantation.Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:1)Review the current practice of liver transplantation and identify potential new clinical opportunities; 2) Identify recent advancements in immunosuppression and tolerance induction, and therapeutics that demonstrate substantial promise; 3) Assess current risk practices within the specialty of liver transplantation; 4) Identify policies, processes, and practices that impede or promote innovation; 5) Propose novel metrics and processes to foster efficient translational research and program development within the current healthcare environment. For more information, please visit:http://www.aasld.org/livermeeting/program/ts/Pages/transplantCourse.aspx.
The Liver Meeting® 2014:postgraduate course--Clinical implications of in flammation and immunity in acute and chronic liver disease and patient care
