在泰国Phi Phi岛附近，有一个名叫Maya Bay的海滩。作为电影《海滩》里描述的真实场景，在电影上映后，无数的观光客纷至沓来，仿佛电影情节的另一种延续。

在电影的开头，导演告诉大家这是一个混乱不堪的世界，用湿拖布捅电灯擦拭墙壁的曼谷老妇，门扣上塞着通往海滩天堂的神秘地图，而鲜血四溅的客房里躺着赠图者的尸体。理查得推开走廊尽头的那扇门，类似电影里的凶杀场景扑面而来，但是更直接、更真实。他“等待着被刺激的感受，但是没有发生。”（I was waiting for it to hit me, but it didn't.）随口说出的一句轻佻话，没想到后来发生的一切都让他步步惊心。或许，这正好回应了一种声音：“人类，你以为你是谁？” (human beings, who do you think you are？)

如果非要归纳个主题出来，我想电影要表达的应该是“自然是美好的，人类是邪恶的”。所以，谁也不要想着呆在天堂，因为我们不配拥有它，我们就该回到这个嘈杂混乱的现实世界。

一面是大自然的纯粹之美，一面是人类丑陋的灵魂。“当面孔在镜头里随着焦距的变化不停旋转，我们已经开始晕旋看不到真实的自我”。好在，后来的理查得“清醒”了，他和达非在一起并肩作战，这一次，他没有把矛头指向鲨鱼和其他鱼类，而是指向海滩上的人们，那些“吞噬大麻的寄生虫”。

My name is Richard. So what else do you need to know? Stuff about my family, or where I'm from? None of that matters. Not once you cross the ocean and cut yourself loose, looking for something more beautiful, something more exciting and yes, I admit, something more dangerous.

I just feel like everyone tries to do something different, but you always wind up doing the same damn thing.

Yea. This beach is perfect. It’s on an island, right, hidden from the sea. Imagine: pure white sand and enough dope to smoke all day every day for the rest of your life. Only a few know exactly where it is and they won’t tell anyone.

那个海滩美极了。它在一个小岛上，隐藏于大海之中。想象一下：洁白的沙滩和日夜享用不尽的大麻。只有少数几个人知道它的确切位置，他们不愿意告诉任何人。

If it’s too far, then we’ll drown. But if we don’t try ,then we’ll never know.

Look! The plankton. Shrimps. In the dark, when they are disturbed, they glow.

All the excitement of arrival had given me something to think about, but it wasn't enough to displace my major preoccupation. You can go to the most beautiful place in the world, but the sunlight shall not bleach their passion, nor the tide wash away thy desire.

总而言之，这里真是天堂。但有一件事例外，欲望就是欲望，走到那都会有。阳光不会把它晒干，潮水也不会将它冲走。

What I think is not important, it depends on you.

我怎么样并不重要，你要自己决定。

I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it's not some place you can look for. Because it's not where you go. it's how you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something. And if you find that moment, it lasts forever.

我仍相信天堂，但天堂不是一个地方，不必费心寻找，那是心灵的一份归属感，珍贵的片刻，即是永恒。
