acquiesce 默许(不及物动词)
(intransitive verb) To reluctantly agree without continuing previous objections; to consent by silence.
EXAMPLE: After months of procrastination and disagreeable arguments, my friend finally acquiesced to his doctor's surgical recommendations.

charcuterie 熟食(不可数名词,法语)
(NON-COUNT NOUN, FRENCH) Smoked or cured meats served cold,especially pork products. (NOTE: final “e” is not silent)
EXAMPLE: The elegant hotel restaurant served guests a large platter ofcharcuterie at the start of every dinner.

clamber 攀爬(不及物动词)
(intransitive verb) To climb awkwardly using both hands and feet.
EXAMPLE: The serious and determined child clambered up the stairs.

colloquium 学术研讨会(名词)
(noun) An academic conference with formal presentations anddiscussions focused on a particular topic. (NOTE: plural form“colloquia”)
EXAMPLE: Every year the university's medical school organizes a
colloquium on cancer attended by doctors from all over the world.

dogs 脚(复数名词,俚语)
(plural noun, SLANG) Feet. (NOTE: always used in plural form)
EXAMPLE: Sometimes, instead of taking the bus, I walk home afterwork, but when I get to my apartment, my dogs are really tired.

finalize 敲定(及物动词)
(transitive verb) To conclude a process, especially a project plan or anagreement.
EXAMPLE: After weeks of negotiation, we believe we can now finalizethe new contract today.

gnaw啃(及物动词,不及物动词)
(transitive verb, intransitive verb) To chew something tough.
EXAMPLE: I like to give my dog a large bone to gnaw.

(BUSINESS) Routine activities involved with cleaning a commercial building.
EXAMPLE: Dependable janitorial services are essential to maintain the cleanliness and proper appearance of our company's many offices.

nondurable goods 不耐用商品
Products that are typically used one year or sooner after purchase by the customer.
EXAMPLE: Most of what we sell in our market are nondurable goods that we must watch carefully for signs of spoilage.

Informal invitation to sit down and talk.

to have seen better 一般般
Phrase used to express a non-committal, slightly negative opinion in reply to another person's comment or inquiry.
EXAMPLE: My friend asked me about the new movie we both saw that he really liked, but I shrugged and told him that I've seen better.
我和朋友在昨天看了一部新电影,他非常喜欢,问我有什么看法。我却耸耸肩,对他说一般般。
the calm before the storm 暴风雨前的宁静
A tranquil, inactive moment before a period of great activity or conflict.(NOTE: also “the lull before the storm”)
EXAMPLE: For several months before the big holiday our business is always slow and we never make many sales, but that quiet period is just the calm before the storm.
