Theyoung man was moved by the little girls song. With tears in his eyes, he gave a precious roedeer horn hat to the little girl.
“I will take good care of it, but Id like to send it to themuseum, so that more children can know about Oroqen culture,”the little girl said after receiving the gift. Everyone was moved.Then she sent the hat to China(Harbin) Forest Museum atNortheast Forestry University.
The roe deer horn hat is the cultural symbol of Oroqen. TheOroqen people have deep feelings for the mountains and wildanimals. The roe deer horn hat shows national unity( 團结) and isthe inheritance( 继承) of national culture.
Oroqen is one of ethnic groups living in the northeast ofChina. The word “Oroqen” has two meanings. One is for peoplewho use reindeer( 驯鹿), while the other is for people who live inthe mountains. They mainly made a living by hunting in the past.During the long-term hunting life, the hardworking and braveOroqen people created a rich and colorful spiritual culture, suchas music, dance and so on. During the War of Resistance againstJapanses Aggression, they took part in the Northeast UnitedResistance Army. After the War of Resistance against JapaneseAggression, only over 1,000 people survived. After 1954, theycame out of the forest and started farming and industry with thehelp of the government. They live a happy life now.
