What special gift do you give to theperson youve been married to for 50years？ Thats the question Lee Wilson， afarmer in Kansas， asked himself as his anniversaryapproached. He first met hiswife， Renee， at a special party， but the twodidnt become a couple immediately.

As soon as her birthday came around，however， Lee gave Renee a call. The twoof them had their first date at a rollerskating party， and theyve been togetherever since！ Thinking back on theirdecades of being in love， Lee knew he hadto do something special.

Finally， it hit him： Hed plant acresworthof her favorite flower.“ I put a lot ofthought into it and she always liked sunflowers，”Lee said.“ And I thought this isthe year to plant sunflowers， so I plantedher 80 acres of sunflowers.”

With the help of their son， Lee has secretlybeen planting the fields with thesebeautiful flowers since May. Now， just aweek away from their August 10 anniversary，about 1.2 million sunflowers are inbloom， just for Renee.“It made me feelvery special，” Renee said. “It couldnthave been a more perfect anniversary giftthan a field of sunflowers.”

Although the flowers were planted forRenee， their beauty is drawing in visitorsfrom all around Kansas. As lovely as thiswhole experience has been， Lee doesnt expectto do it again next year. Though， hedoes encourage others to try this lovely giftidea out.“ Oh its been fun， but I think onetime is enough for us，” Lee said.
