Gu Ailing was born in California and had (代表) the United Statesbefore she chose to represent China. She will be most likely to be one of the faces ofthe 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The teenager is a (自由式滑雪運动员) and grade-A student with anAmerican father and Chinese mother. She grew up and still lives in the United States,but in June 2019 she made the “quite difficult”decision to compete for China.She wrote online that she was proud of being Chinese and growing up in America.

Beatrice De Lavallette was just 17 years old when she was seriously hurt andlost both of her legs from the knees down.

The teen spent the next several months in physical (治疗), workinghard to be independent while moving. She appreciated her family for supporting herand making her believe that life would go on during those dark days.

Her dear horse, DeeDee, especially helped her get well again. Beatrice grew upin an (馬术的) family. She started riding when she was just a kid,competing in (盛装舞步) by the time she was 12. When her doctor broughtDeeDee to the hospital parking lot one day, Beatrice knew her love of horses andriding was the way forward.

Someone had to hold onto me, but I knew Icould do this by myself.”As she was eager to get back to her “real life”, Beatricebegan the hard task of learning how to ride again.
