When I was young, I was always looking forward to my birthday’s coming. I dreamed of the cake, the presents, and the best wishes from others. However,when I woke up, what I first saw was always a bowl of noodles, which we called “changshou mian” in Chinese. At that moment, I realized that China is special. She has her own culture about food.And that’s what I want to discuss with you guys today: Chinese food.
Nowadays, when we mention Chinese culture, many of us may come up with Beijing Opera, Chinese Kungfu and so on. It seems that Chinese food is just a common thing that is not worth mentioning. But in fact, Chinese food is one of the most important Chinese culture that can never be ignored. Why? Well, because it’s delicious, creative and fantastic,.
First, Chinese food has strong local features. For example, people in the south like to eat salty “doufuhua”, while those in the north prefer the sweet ones.
Also, Chinese food is of great creativity. Let’s come back to noodles again. In Chongqing, we have “Chongqing xiaomian” which is spicy. In Shaanxi, we have“Shaanxi saozimian” which has a special flavour. In Jiangsu, we have “sanxia mian”, which includes shrimps’ all parts of body. We eat Beijing Roast Duck. We eat Yangzhou Salty Duck. Sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, salty. You can enjoy all kinds of tastes, right here in China.
However, many people are getting more and more indifferent to Chinese food.American BBQ, Japanese sushi, Korean cooking… Some of us seem to prefer foreign food to local ones. I believe that’s not what we want to see. At least, I’m really depressed about that.
Chinese food is far more than food. It’s made up of people’s wisdom, hope pf life, and love for our country. We can’t let the treasure be ignored. Light it, love it,and make the world proud of it.
