Confucius is the symbol of Chinese culture. He is praised as one of the greatest philosopher in China’s history.

When I first got to know him, I was still in primary school. There was a portrait of him on the wall next to our classroom. Under the portrait were some famous sayings created by Confucius, such as “There must be one out of three who can be my teacher. I will select their good qualities and follow them, while see their bad qualities and avoid them.” I was attracted by the meaningful knowledge expressed in those ancient ideograms（表意符号）. After entering the junior high school, I learned that Confucius was the founder of Confucianism. Some famous philosophers,such as Mencius and Wang Yangming, were all deeply influenced by Confucianism.Their contributions to philosophy were as important as those contributed by Aristotle and Jung.

Have you heard of this story? The first man who rowed a canoe across the Pacific Ocean only took two books with him. One of the two books wasA Brief History of Chinese Philosophy, a book written by Feng Youlan, which is mainly about Confucianism. So we can see that Confucius has a great influence on foreigners.Once upon a time, I went to visit the birth place of Confucius, a small city called Qufu. When I was at the gate of the Confucius Temple, I saw many foreigners who spoke Spanish and German. Many foreigners thought that Confucius was a symbol of Chinese culture.

Confucius is a bridge connecting the East and the West. His brilliant mind is just like a sun, which shines forth upon all humans that dwell（居住） on earth.
