Wang Xiaohong Attends the Twelfth ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime

On September 22, Wang Xiaohong, Minister of Public Security, P. R. China attended the Twelfth ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan and Repulic of Korea) Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (12th AMMTC +3) via video link in Beijing.

Wang Xiaohong noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Security Initiative this April, which gives the guidance and offers a new path for eliminating the peace deficit and tackling the global security dilemma. China is willing to join hands with all parties concerned to actively implement the Global Security Initiative, give full play to role of the cooperation between ASEAN member states and China, Japan and Repulic of Korea, further build consensus, and enhance mutual trust on security. China is also ready to make concerted efforts to crack down on telecom and network fraud, cross-border gaming and other new types of crimes, strengthen security measures for large events, and deepen the exchange between law enforcement personnel, thus advancing the benign interaction between regional economic cooperation and security partnership, and creating a safe and stable environment for the development of regional cooperation in various fields.

Wang Xiaohong pointed out that telecom and network frauds, cross-border gambling have spread rapidly in the region in recent years, giving rise to many other transnational crimes like kidnapping, money laundering,and human smuggling. The relevant crimes make them the public hazard that dramatically endangers the regional economic development and social stability, and seriously infringes on the legitimate interests and property safety of global citizens. China is willing to keep deepening the cooperation with countries in the region , and make joint efforts to launch efficient crackdown and governance measures, thus resolutely curbing the spread of telecom and network frauds, as well as cross-border gambling.

Heads of law enforcement and security departments of ASEAN member states, Japan and Repulic of Korea attended the meeting and gave speeches. At the meeting, attendees also witnessed the release of the Joint Statement on the Twelfth ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime.
