Dear Editor，

I’m shocked by your negative attitude about the new city tax on the restaurant food. The tax is for a good cause which you ignore.

Just a small amount added to each meal adds up to thousands of dollars for our city parks. This is good for the young people of our town. It gives us nice， clean places to play and relax. The soccer fields， softball fields and swimming pool are used by children and adults alike. These parks provide safe， pleasant places for family to enjoy physical activities.

All of our restaurants have good food. If I buy a $4 sandwich， it only costs 20 cents extra for the tax. Even with an expensive meal of $50， the 5% tax only adds $2.50. That’s not bad！ And with so many tourists buying meals， the money is not even coming out of your own pockets！ The tourists benefit from our lovely town and parks， too.

I certainly hope you will reconsider your attitude towards this tax.
