Finland Pavilion ”Bing Hu” portrays Finland in miniature, presenting Finland to the world. The aim of the pavilion was to show Finnish visions of ”Good Life”.
The architecture was inspired by nature, bringing together fragments of Finnish nature. Like an island, the pavilion was surrounded by water, creating a place to escape from big city life. The form of the pavilion was natural as in a stones found on seashore. The facade is clad with scales made of waterproof paper, a custom designed product made of recycled industrial waste. In the middle, the atrium opened towards the sky. The pavilion included exhibition spaces, restaurant and VIP spaces.
More than five million visitors visited and experioenced ”Bing Hu”. Finland Pavilion was selected to be the best pavilion in its class in Shanghai Expo. JKMM designed the architecture, interiors and integrated the artworks.
