鸟儿在我的窗前歌唱，

我每天都把笼子挂在那里，

但我从来没抓到过鸟儿。

Tunes1 the sweetest ever heard，

And I hang my cage2 there daily，

But I never catch a bird.

So with thoughts my brain is peopled3，

And they sing there all day long：

But they will not fold their pinions4
