W: Would you please tell me where it is?

M: Certainly. Walk two blocks south and then turn left.

W: And then?

M: Then look to the right. When you see a big ad, you'll see the entrance to the supermarket.

W: Now I have a map in my mind. I think I can find it.

M: Sure. You'll have no trouble finding it.

W: Great! Thank you.

B

M: Is this the shopping district?

W: Yes, it is. There're a lot of stores, office buildings and theatres near here.

M: What's the largest building on the left?

W: That's a department store. It sells almost everything.

M: I want to buy some clothes.

W: There's a men's clothing store next to the bank building on the right.

M: Oh, there's a beautiful theatre on the corner.

W: Yes, and there's a new play there tonight. The building next to the theatre is a hotel.

M: Is that the post office across the street?

W: No, that's the City Hall.

C

W: Why do we have to walk to the station? And where is it?

M: It's just down that road, I think.

W: Look! There's a policeman. Ask him the way.

M: All right. I'll go and ask.

(After asking the policeman, the man came back.)

W: So, what did he say?

M: We have to walk down this road, take the first turning on the left, and then walk until we come to the river and cross the river. We'll be able to see some road signs which will tell us the way.

W: But how far is it? How long does it take us to walk there?

M: About fifteen minutes, if we walk quickly.

W: Fifteen minutes! We may be late for the train. And with these heavy bags, too! I think we ought to take a taxi.

M: Not at this hour. Look at the traffic! It's moving very slowly. We can get there just as quickly on foot.

W: Well, I can't possibly carry this bag any further.

M: All right. Let me take it, then. Hmm, the two bags are heavier than I thought. Perhaps it's not such a bad idea after all. Taxi! Taxi!
