结果露比跟弗雷格配上了，要我说，这可真是天作之合。But Ruby got paired up with Fregley,and if you ask me,that’s a match made in heaven.

最后，莫雷塔夫人念出了最后一个女生的名字，但还有一帮男生没被念到，包括我在内。我们班男生比女生多得多，所以不是每个人都能有舞伴，这也是情理之中的事。Eventually,Mrs.Moretta read out the last girl’s name,and there were still a bunch of boys left over,including me.There are a lot more boys in my class this year than girls,so it made sense that not everyone got a partner.

不过我还是有点失落，居然没人在纸片上写我的名字。我们这帮人以为我们就不用参加交谊舞单元了，可以在体育馆的另一头连续踢三个星期的球。But still,I was a little disappointed that no one wrote my name on oneofthose little slips of paper.Then us guys realized we weren’t gonna have to do the ballroom dancing unit and that we could just play kickball on the other side of the gym for three weeks.

不过我们高兴得太早了。莫雷塔夫人说人人都得跳舞，然后开始把我们几个男生两两配对。结果不知怎么地，我就跟卡洛斯·埃斯卡莱跳起了华尔兹。But we celebrated a little too soon.Mrs.Moretta said that everyone had to dance,and she started pairing us boys up with one another.So the next thing I knew,I was dancing a waltz with Carlos Escalera.
