下面要介绍的是一款屏幕能折叠的智能腕表，平时看上去只有一个小屏幕，但是，真正的玄机在机身里面。根据不同的使用场景，它可以在一个屏幕和多个屏幕之间变换，在完全展开的状态下，它可以变成一个有着超大屏幕的平板电脑！

Many smartwatches are used among primary and secondary school students. They can tell time， let people phone...In June， 2019， IBM in USA patented a smartwatch. Why？ Because it can be used as a smartphone and a tablet！

很多中小学生在使用智能手表。它们能用来显示时间、打电话……2019年6月，美国IBM公司（美国国际商用机器公司）获得了一种智能手表专利。为什么？因为它可以用作智能手机和平板电脑！

The wearable device has a total of eight unfolding displays. Each display is 2×3 inches. In the standard configuration2， the smartwatch uses only one of these displays. The rest are stored in a small compartment inside the device. If the user wants a larger screen size， he or she can slide parts out of the housing to give an extra wide display.

這款可佩戴设备共有8个展开显示屏，每个显示屏的尺寸是2×3英寸。在标准外形中，智能手表只使用其中一个显示屏，其余的在设备内部的一个小隔间里。如果用户想要更大的屏幕尺寸，可以将部件滑出机壳得到更宽的显示屏幕。

IBM originally filed the patent in 2016 under the name “variable display size for an electronic display device”. The patent was approved on June 11， 2019 and published in the USPTO （United States Patent and Trademark Office） database. When all 8 display parts are extended， the phone switches to tablet mode. And two hands are needed to operate it. The display seams look very small， so that the content can be displayed continuously.

IBM公司最初在2016年以“可变显示尺寸的电子显示设备”的名义申请了这项专利。该专利于2019年6月11日获得批准，并发布在美国专利商标局（USPTO）的数据库中。当全部8个显示部件都展开后，手机切换到平板模式，并且需要双手操作。显示屏的接缝看起来很小，因此内容可以连续显示。
