National Geographic Traveler magazine has released its“Best Trips in 2019”list with28 places selected around the world. Fanjingshan in southwest China's Guizhou Province is the only tourist "destination in China to make the list. You may wonder why Fanjingshanthan some other famous mountains such as Huangshan and Huashan which are morefamiliar to us.
The Fanjingshan or Mount Fanjing,located in Tongren,Guizhou province,is the highest peak of the Wuling Mountains in southwestern China,at an elevation of 2,570 m. The name“Fanjing”is an 2)abbreviation of Fantian Jingtu,meaning“Brahma's pure land"in Chinese. Fanjing Mountain became a sacred 3)Buddhist site early in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). It was as famous as Mount Emei,Mount Wutai,Mount Putuo and JiuhuaMountain for a long time. As a sacred Buddhist site,Fanjingshan has numerous templesand is one of the Five Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China.
Fanjing Mountain stretches on an area of 402.75 km2 with a 4)buffer zone of 372.39km2. The 5)ecosystem of Fanjing Mountain has preserved large numbers of ancient relict plants,rare and endangered creatures,as well as unique species. It was identified as the world's most well-preserved primeval forest,with 4,394 kinds of plants and 2,767 kinds of animals,and has been dubbed the“the gene database" of China. As the most importantreserves of beech forests in Asia and the world's most gymnosperms-rich area,the mountain is the only habitat for the Guizhou snub-nosed monkey and the Fanjingshan fir. It also has the most precious wildlife and plant species,including the golden monkey and the Chinese dove tree.
Other than its 6)subtropical ecology,featuring rare plants and wildlife,the mountain is also better known for its magnificent natural landscape.
Hundreds of millions of years ago,Fanjingshan slowly rose from the bottom of an ocean due to the force of the earth. Stunning landscapes like steep 7)precipices,deep valleys and waterfalls formed 1 to 1 .4 billion years ago were perfectly preserved here. Visitors can feast their eyes on views of mountains shrouded in mist and clouds,beautiful vegetation,steep cliffs,echoing caverns and ancient bridges. Those lucky enough will see the mysterious spectacles of Buddha's light and the projection ofhuman shadows against the fog.
Soaring up with over 8,000 steps,it rewards hikers with 8)bizarre rock formations and above-the-clouds views of China's Wuling mountain range. If you long for askywalk above the clouds,Fanjingshan is definitely the place to visit! Further-more,the over 80-meter-high Larger Golden Peak at the top of the mountain offers a fantastic sight:a steep stone 9)pillar supporting a huge square rock known as the“Pileof 10,000 Books".

It was officially added to The World Heritage List on July 2,2018,being China's53rd UNESCO World Heritage site.

梵净山绵延402. 75平方公里,缓冲区372.39平方公里。梵净山生态系统保存了大量的古植物、珍稀濒危生物和独特的物种。它被认为是世界上保存最完好的原始森林,有4394种植物和2767种动物,被称为中国的“基因数据库”。作为亚洲最重要的山毛榉森林保护区和世界上裸子植物最为丰富的地区,这座山是贵州珍稀鼻猴和梵净山冷杉的唯一栖息地。它还拥有最珍贵的野生动植物,包括金丝猴和“中国的鸽子树”珙桐。

1.游玩梵净山,你可以选择爬8000级台阶,徒步到山顶大约需要4个小时,尽管徒步旅行可能会消耗你的能量,但它提供了一种征服感和与自然的亲密接触。除此之外也可以坐缆车到靠近梵净山山顶的蘑菇石,乘坐30分钟的缆车鸟瞰草木葱花的梵净山。
2.《世界遗产名录》是1976年世界遗产委员会成立时建立的。世界遗产委员会隶属于聯合国教科文组织。2018年7月2日,在巴林麦纳麦举行的第四十二届世界遗产大会上,经联合国教科文组织世界遗产委员会同意,中国贵州梵净山获准列入《世界遗产名录》。至此,我国世界遗产增至53处,世界自然遗产增至13处。世界自然遗产总数超越之前并列的澳大利亚和美国,居世界第一。
