Planting in the Rain
On Mar. 22nd, the volunteers of the Lion Club organized a trip to plant trees in Shuiyun Valley. They invited the students of our school to join them. It took us about one hour by car to arrive at the valley.
I was amazed by the beautiful view. There were green trees everywhere, dotted with[以……点缀]colorful flowers. Ducks were swimming in the pond. And in the field were some rabbits running. We made our way up a hill. On the top we found some spades[锹]and saplings[树苗]. A farmer showed us how to plant trees, and then we followed him.
It was tough work, because the spade was pretty heavy and the ground was hard to dig. I tried my best and finally succeeded. Looking at the saplings I had planted, I felt very happy, though I sweated a lot. When I was ready to plant more, it started raining. So we put on raincoats and continued to work. However, I felt like wearing a raincoat might slow me down, so I took it off and kept on working. The rain grew heavier and heavier. Water was dripping down[滴下]from my hair. Soon my clothes were all wet, sticking to[贴在……上]my body. When we were told to stop, we were proud to know that we had planted over 70 trees altogether!
We went into a tent where dinner was served. A farmer gave each of us a lovely present—a pot with a sunflower seedling! We said goodbye to everyone, and then left this beautiful place.
It was really the most unforgettable day in my life!
