催婚与逼婚(双语加油站)

“催婚”的意思是“催促未婚男女赶快结婚”。英语译为to urge sb to get married sooner。例如：

1. 这个30 岁的男子离家在北京打工，依然打光棍。每当他过年回老家探望爹妈时，总是畏惧被双亲和亲戚们催婚。The 30- year- old man is away from home and does odd job in Beijing, remaining single. Every time when he goes back to his hometown to see his father and mother during the Lunar New Year holidays, he always dreads being urged by his parents and relatives to get married sooner.

“逼婚”的意思是“用暴力或威胁手段强迫对方不情愿地跟自己或别人结婚”。英语动词译为to force/compel sb to marry, to force sb into a marriage,to press sb for marriage。例如：

2. 这个女白领青年的妈妈逼婚，让她嫁给一个她根本不爱的富家公子。The young white-collar worker's mother forced her to marry the son of a rich man whom she didn't love at all. ▲
