Emoticons are composed of characters，texts，pictures，video and other elements that are visually presented as a nonlanguage symbol.With the rapid development of online media，emoticons have become the most common way of socializing by internet users.During the making，sharing and spreading of emoticons，it is born with expression of satisfaction，ridicule，release and entertainment.Emoticons not only reflect the social mentality，attitude and emotion of internet users，but also highlights its function of social interaction and regulation.While online socialization gradually becomes the most important communication activities beyond time and space limits for human beings，the emoticons have brutally grown as vulgar and kitsch，thus negatively impacted the environment of online socialization.This paper combs the emerging and developing process of emoticons，as well as the categories and characteristics of emoticons，then analyzes the popularity and symbolic meaning of emoticons from the perspective of semiotic and communication theory.Finally，this paper conduct case study to show the unique cultural landscape，positive value and limitations of emoticons from multiple levels.

On the Advancing of Literary Region Conception and Reconstruction of Literary Critique History from the Literary Geo-criticism Perspective：A Case-study of Three Chinese Textbooks of Foreign Literary History

Although the compilation of the history of foreign literature or the history of world literature has witnessed great progress and quite a few textbooks with high quality have been put into use in recent three decades，the history of literature concept seems rather conventional，conservative and to some extent confusing due to the lack of the awareness of literary region.This article compares three popular textbooks of literature history，points out the serious problems in the current narratives in the history of literature and analyzes the reasons to these problems.And it argues that if the concept of literary region in terms of geo-criticism is applied to the compilation work，some consequent modifications will contribute to frame a more comprehensive，reasonable，objective and scientific history of literature，even rewrite it.The conventional East and West framework ought to be taken place by an organic one which is based on the objectivity and originality in terms of natural and cultural literary geo-criticism.To relocate literary regions and research their respective features is a must in the future narratives in the history of literature.
