The raindroprop

1

雨珠问道：“是否我是莲花瓣上的一座小湖泊，而你是它下方的一颗大雨珠呢？”

湖泊回答说：“是的，我的兄弟。”

The raindrop asks， saying，“Am I a small lake upon the lotus petal，and you a big raindrop under it？”

The lake answers， saying，“Ay，my brother. ”

忠实永远不因自己的忠诚而要求任何回报。

The faith never claims any reward for self being faithful.

声音是清醒着的静默，而音乐是舞蹈着的声音。

A voice is a silence keeping awake，and a music is a voice dancing .

星，巨大高悬的，是天上的灯。

灯，小而低置的，是地上的星。

Star， the huge up， is the lamp in the sky.

Lamp， the small down， the star in the earth.

“你发现了你自己的歌曲，当你的静默被演奏成音乐时，哦，我的世界！ ”我的心低语着。

“You find your own song，as your silence is put into the music to play， Oh my world，” whispers my heart.

世界给我苦痛。

我回报以诗歌。

The world gives me in pain.

I recompense in poetry.

让那居高盛开的花朵永不轻蔑它自己地下根的苍白贫乏！

Let not the blooming in the air ever despise its own roots underground for being pale and poor.

“小萤火虫并不希望成为巨星，”我的心自言自语：“它只喜欢做好它自己。”

“The little firefly wishes not it were a great star，”my heart speakes to itself， “but it likes being itself.”

蚯蚓讥笑蛟龙既不爬行于泥中也不生活在土里。

The earthworm mocks the dragon for neither crawling through the dirt nor living in the soil.

眼盲是视力丧失而看不见，但心残是热情流失致不关心！

Blind is the sightless not seeing，but cruel is the heartless not caring.

人愈忙于获得，往往就愈无闲暇去拥有！

Person who is more busy to gain has often less leisure time to hold.

冷酷走向灭亡；但温和趋近平安！

Hardness heads to ruin，but tenderness approaches toward safty.

在创作里，人的心灵与上帝重逢！

By producing the human mind has a reunion with its God.

让这栀子花爱它自己的香气胜于茉莉花的！

Let the gardenia love its own sweet scent rather than that of the jasmine.

◎后记：

缘起于一本英语字典，曾伴我在桃园虎头山下读高中学程，也在老家准备大学联考，又到台中念大学，役毕后再到台北工作，终又回到桃园来！更多时候是任我兴致缺缺的静置在偏僻墙角，或躺在书桌一隅，也历经了两次搬家的匆促。它，尽管未受到太多重视，依然未曾丢失过！

凝视老款斑剥又布满褶皱的它，回首前尘，觉得又是一桩命定之事——数十年以来，之所以一直留在我身边，似是默默的等我，知有一日我会重新拾起它来研读？弥补曩昔疏阔，我爱不释手的欲将全部内容从扉页记入脑海！包括英语任一语言都有它自己的规则逻辑，在运用它来传递自心之所悟所感时，重点于我是找到合适的用词，更重要的是“合适的句型”来表达之！

在我成长的年代，岛上的体制教育在外语方面以英语为主，英文的说、读、写，由于长年有接触而具备着一定能力，循此，则时机成熟就能够水到渠成的快意书写，乃是其来有自、合乎情理之现象！

只是，在时间的夹缝中，数十年竟像一阵风的瞬逝，趁隙溜烟而过，抓不牢也捕不得！难免也有如此之赞叹：“小安排由人，大安排听天！”还是收敛起意马心猿，老实的读英语并持续我这“双语写作”的工作吧！
