英语中间接否定的表达方式

英语中否定的表达形式多种多样，方式复杂。 这给我们在学习、理解、翻译和使用英语中造成了一定的困难，要克服这一困难，就必须了解表达否定概念的各种方式。

一、表示否定意义的单词

（1）动词：fail,refuse,exclude,decline,miss 等，例如：

The driver failed to notice the fire engine trying to overtake him..司机没有注意到消防车要超他的车。

（2）名词：failure,lack,absence,reluctance,ignorance 等，例如：Failure to be punctual in keeping one’s appointment is a sign of disrespect towards others.

约会时不准时是对别人不尊敬的表现。

（3）形容词：free,reluctant,blind,clear,dry 等，例如：

She is free from arrogance and rashness.

她不骄不躁。

（4）介词：above，beyond，beside，off，out of 等，例如：

This story problem is above her 5-year-old son.

她五岁的儿子做不了这道应用题。

二、表示否定意义的词组

Anything but, beyond the reach of, let alone, under the weather,in the air 等，例如：

The task is anything but easy.

这个任务一点也不容易。

三、表示否定意义的习语

When two Sundays come together, in the reign of Queen Dick,catch sb.doing 等，例如：

She’ll fall in love with him when two Sundays come together.

她是绝对不会爱上他的。

间接否定在英语学习中比比皆是，对间接否定的表达方式多加注意，可以避免理解或翻译上的误差，同时也能提高词汇学习的能力，并能较快地扩大词汇量。
