多用口语习语(一)

英语中多数口语习语的功能都是单一的,例如How are you?How do you do?表示问候,Goodbye用于道别。但有些习语是多功能的,例如Sure. 可以表示①应答或同意,意为“当然”、“可以”,等于Certainly.或Of course;②回谢,意为“不客气”,等于Not at all. 或Youre welcome. 下面就介绍一些这类多功能口语习语供学习参考。
1All right=OK
①对How are you?这类问候语的回答。
—How are you getting on these days?
—All right, thanks. How about you?
②All right可以相当于Are you well问别人身体状况。
—All right?
—Yes, thanks, and you?
③用于表示对建议或计划的同意。
—Shall we go to town this afternoon?
—All right, lets!
④相当于Certainly表示“当然”,有时与but连用。
—The weather doesnt change much tonight.
—All right, theres some wind, but that will soon die down(平息).
⑤用于表达不耐烦或恼怒。
All right, dont take my advice if you dont want to, but dont blame me when you fail.好啦,如果不乐意就别听我的,不过你做不成可别怪我。
重复使用此习语可表达极为烦恼:OK,OK,OK,theres no need to get so angry.好啦,好啦,好啦,没有必要发这么大的火。
⑥用于连接部分所解释的内容,意为“到此你明白我的意思了吗?”
Youre going down the road. All right(明白吗)?Now you turn left at the bottom to get to the hospital.

①用于打扰别人的场合,目的是吸引某人的注意力。
Excuse me, is this the way to the post office?
②用于不同意某人的意见而道歉的场合。
Excuse me, but I think you are wrong.
③用于表示恼怒。
Excuse me, but isnt that my parking place(停车位)youve put your car in(你却停了你的车)?
3Im sorry.
①道歉语,用于你说了错话或做了错事时向对方表示“对不起”。
Im sorry, I hope youve not been waiting long.
Sorry!Did I step on your foot?
②用于委婉表达不同意或为自己开脱的借口。
Im sorry, but its getting late, and I think wed better be going now.
4Good luck.
①用于祝愿,好运气,交好运。
“Good luck, Andy!”all his friends shouted as the train started.
Good luck to you at college!
②用于祝酒。
Mary raised her glass and said, “Good luck to you.”
5Here you are.
①用于把某物递给某人时,意为“这就是你要的东西”。
Here you are, Madam. What you ordered, roast chicken and bread.
②用于引起某人对某事的注意。(作此用途也可换为Here we are.)
You say you want to go to France next month, but, here you are, youve still not got enough money, my lad!
③提醒某人到了某处,该下车了。
Here you are, everyone, this is the terminal(终点站).
