West Inner Mongolia Coalfield to be the Largest Bauxite Mine in China

With the acceleration of industrialization of extraction of alumina from high aluminum fly ash technology, the West Inner Mongolia coalfield is expected to become the largest bauxite mine with the largest aluminum reserves in China.According to the industry insiders,if the waste can be turned into treasures, alumina extracted from fly ash can substitute the current imported bauxite and alumina.

The statistics of NDRC in Inner Mongolia shows that Junger coalfield in west Inner Mongolia is rich in high-aluminum coal resources, with 10% alumina in the raw coal and 40%-51% alumina in the fly ash.In the 50 billion tons of aluminum coal, the potential high aluminum fly ash is expected to reach 15 billion tons,8 times of Chinese current available bauxite reserves, making it an important reserve base for aluminum resources.

It is reported that in recent years, alumina extraction from fly ash has attracted wide attention from the research institutes and resource development enterprises.Currently, the extraction from high aluminum fly ash technology co-developed by Datang International and Tsinghua University has entered into the industrialization stage.A project that can extract 200,000 tons of alumina per year has been in operation in Inner Mongolia, which proves the feasibility of the technology.

Statistics shows coal resources that are rich in aluminum in Inner Mongolia have the production capacity of 100 million tons per year.If transformed locally, fly ash can generate 12 million tons of alumina.
