为了设计这一满足集体生活需求、但精神生活不受宗教规定制约的佛教徒之家,建筑师不仅需要设计建筑本身,还需避免在建筑中显现出有失偏颇或过时的宗教理解。为了与旧建筑保持联系,两层的住宅和顶层平台都伸向天空。这种设计既可以解释为象征重新开始的机会,同时也起到了强调建筑屋脊线的效果。
个人居住单元中的陈设大都一致,只是根据单元的位置、大小和户型差异而略有不同。内外装修都用了非常醒目的橡木:从厨房的面材到推拉式百叶窗无不例外。结构构件中也大量使用了木材,只在一些特殊部位使用钢材来加强结构强度。扩建部分的二层冥想空间同时可以作为多功能房间来使用,除了特定功能外,还有一个主题展览空间可以展示源自各种宗教的宗教艺术。□(司马蕾 译)
A communal, spiritual life unencumbered by religious dictates requires an architectural setting whose design motivation is neither an end unto itself, nor characterized by biased, obsolete notions of ritual. In keeping with the old building, the two residential levels and the terrace level above them step up toward the firmament. The design can be interpreted to the same degree as chance for a new beginning and as the articulation of the building's crest.

The individual living units are all similarly equipped, with differences due to the position,size and layout. The predominant surface material,both inside and outside, is oak: it is employed in everything from the veneer in the kitchen to the sliding shutters. The structural members are also to a large degree of wood and are only reinforced with steel a few special instances. The meditation space in the extension's second level can be used as multipurpose room as well and remains, regardless of the respective function, a themed exhibition space containing sacred art stemming from disparate religions. □
