宝洁公司为2012年可持续发展目标增加新目标

宝洁公司日前宣布在其2012年公司可持续发展目标中增加新的目标。经修订的目标中包括:开发和销售至少累计额达500亿美元的“可持续创新产品”(SIP);同时在宝洁的所有工厂减少20%的(每生产单位的)二氧化碳排放、能源消耗和水消耗以及废物的处理;保3亿儿童参与以“生活、学习和成长”为主题的活动;并通过“儿童安全饮用水”项目向社会提供30亿升清洁水。

IBM选取200名未来领导者解决新兴市场的社会经济问题

从近40个国家挑选的200名IBM未来领导人将参加IBM2009年的“为新兴市场的国际任命”活动,这是公司企业服务团计划的一部分,也是IBM首席执行官Sam Palmisano所倡导的全球公民一揽子计划的一部分。

Procter & Gamble increases targets for 2012 sustainability goals

The Procter & Gamble Company has announced increased targets for its 2012 sustainability goals. The revised goals are to develop and market at least $50 billion in cumulative sales of “sustainable innovation products” (SIP); deliver a 20 percent reduction (per unit of production) in carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, water usage and disposed waste from P&G plants.

IBM selects 200 future leaders to tackle socioeconomic problems in emerging markets

Two hundred of IBM future leaders from nearly 40 countries will participate for international assignments to emerging markets in 2009 as part of the companys Corporate Service Corps programme, part of the Global Citizens Portfolio initiative announced by CEO Sam Palmisano.

Responsibility for young drivers

The “Young Drivers” campaign is an offer by Volkswagen to novice drivers and those taking the “drivers license at 17” option to gain a safe and straightforward entry into the world of car driving – a campaign in which the 15,000th young person has just taken part.

Nestlé launches new Creating Shared Value website

Nestlé has re-launched its Creating Shared Value website. It includes six new videos, nine short video interviews with nutritional experts, a new site structure and a searchable map to help find stories by region.

Sony World Photography Awards 2009 winners announced

Sony has announced the winners of the Sony World Photography Awards 2009 – 44 professional and amateur photographers from 22 countries. The Sony World Photography Awards aim to promote the work of photographers worldwide.

EDF and Toyota announce demonstration of Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles in Strasbourg

EDF and Toyota have announced a major step forward in their joint road-trials in France, involving Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHVs) and an innovative charging infrastructure. About one hundred units of a next generation PHV equipped with lithium-ion batteries will be leased to selected companies and partners in the Strasbourg area from the end of 2009,

ArcelorMittal USA partners with the American Red Cross

ArcelorMittal USA has partnered with the American Red Cross to create a programme that underscores ArcelorMittals commitment to health and safety. The core of the partnership is the establishment of “Creating Safer Communities” events which will be piloted at eight ArcelorMittal sites this year.

EU regions to get 105 billion for green projects

The European Commission has announced it will back job creation by investing an unprecedented 105 billion in green projects under the EUs cohesion policy, EurActiv reports. The Commission hopes this will boost growth and create new jobs that are unlikely to flee to emerging economies such as China and India.

European Commission wants to scrap ‘throw-away culture

The European Commission urged European business leaders gathered at the European Business Summit in Brussels on 26 March to empower Europeans to consume more sustainably by offering them affordable and recyclable products, EurActiv reports.

美国、法国刮起审查高管薪酬“旋风”

美林、美国国际集团( AIG )和法雷奥等在金融危机中受重创的公司日前因为其高管薪酬和员工奖金问题引发了公众的不满和质疑。为此,美国总统奥巴马和法国总统萨科齐呼吁这些公司在此问题上要勇于承担责任和接受监督。美国众议院已通过一项法案,规定接受了政府援助资金的公司,如果其员工包括奖金在内的收入高于25万美元,将需支付高达90%的个人所得税。

世界水论坛表示:水是需求,无关人权

联合国呼吁:“绿色新政”复苏经济

联合国环境署表示,全球所有国家国内生产总值的1%,即约7500亿美元的投资将能够开展“绿色新政”,以重振世界经济、保护世界环境。根据联合国环境规划署于4月2日在世界领导人会议上发布的一份报告,投资应更多地关注节能建筑、可再生能源、交通改善、农业发展和保护自然的措施等方面。

美国环保局称:温室气体将危害人类健康

美国环境保护局( EPA )向白宫提交了一份报告,指出包括二氧化碳在内的温室气体的大量排放不仅导致了气候变暖,同时也危及到了人类的健康和生活质量,这一发现将推动美国政府根据清洁空气法案对温室气体排放进行管制。

United States, France to Scrutinize Executive Pay

Sparked by public outrage over executive pay and employee bonuses at distressed firms such as Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., the American International Group, Inc. (AIG), and Valeo SA, the U.S. Obama administration and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are calling for more responsibility and oversight on the issue. The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that would tax bonuses paid by firms who received bailout money at a 90 percent rate. Obamas financial regulation overhaul plan includes an increase in the Federal Reserves oversight of large companies and possible requirements for corporate boards to tie executive compensation to performance.

World Water Forum Calls Water a “Basic Need,” Not Human Right

The final declaration from the World Water Forum in Istanbul—which is legally non-binding but carries significant political weight—refused to recognize water as a basic human right, and instead identified it as a “basic human need.” Ministers from more than 100 countries did acknowledge the attention the issue has received and that access to clean water is essential to achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Obama Launches ‘Major Economies Climate Change Meetings

U.S. President Barack Obama plans to hold meetings with representatives from 16 major economies to coordinate approaches on energy and climate change issues in preparation for global climate talks in Copenhagen in December. The Major Economies Meetings on Energy Security and Climate Change—similar in name and theme to talks former U.S. President George W. Bush held in the last two years of his administration—will include representatives from Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, the European Union, etc.

UN Says 'Green New Deal' Could Revive Economy

According to the UN environment agency, investments of 1 percent of global GDP—around US$750 billion—could create a “New Green Deal” to revive the worlds economy and protect the environment. Based on a United Nations Environment Programme report, investments should be divided among more energy-efficient buildings, renewable energies, better transport, improved agriculture, and measures to protect nature.

U.S. EPA Calls Greenhouse Gases a Danger to Health

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has sent a proposal to the White House stating that greenhouse gases that cause climate warming, including carbon dioxide, pose a danger to human health and welfare—a finding that is critical in getting the U.S. government to regulate emissions under the Clean Air Act.
