一、动词be的形式

口诀展示：be动词三变化，am, is还有are，“我”(I)用am，“你”(you)用are， is紧跟“他(he)、她(she)、它(it)”。“我们(we)、你们(you)”和“他们(they)”。

全用are来表达。

友情释疑：当主语为第一人称单数I 时，用am；当主语为第二人称单数you时，用are；当主语为第三人称单数时，用is；当主语为复数时，不管是第几人称，都用are。

特别提醒：何为第三人称单数？不少同学往往产生误会，以为只有he, she, it才是。其实，像this, that, this book, my name, your brother, his MP4等等，只要不是I（我）或you（你），所有的表示单数的名词或代词都属于第三人称单数。

实例展示：

1． I am in Class Two. 我在二班。

2． Are you Han Mei? 你是韩梅吗？

3． He is my good friend. 他是我的好朋友。

4． Li Ping and Zhang Hong are my classmates.

李萍和张红是我的同班同学。

5． My name is Dongfang Hongyun. 我的名字叫东方鸿运。

二、动词be的句型转换

口诀展示：变否定，很容易，be后not加上去。变疑问，要调换，将be移至主语前，句子开头应大写，句末问句莫忘添。

友情释疑：在be后直接加not变成否定句；把be提到主语之前，句子开头的首字母大写，句末加上问号就变成了一般疑问句。

实例展示：

1． I am an English teacher. → I am not an English teacher.

2． He is in Class One, Grade Seven.

→Is he in Class One, Grade Seven?

三、动词be的缩写形式

口诀展示：主谓缩写有规律，去掉头字用“‘”替。this和is不能缩，这个一定要牢记。肯定答语要小心，be词不与主语靠。

友情释疑：am, is 和are与绝大多数主语或疑问词有缩略形式，分别为：m，s，re。this和is不能缩写。在肯定回答中，am, is, are也不能与其主语缩写。

实例展示：

1． Im a boy. 我是个男孩。

2． Hes an English teacher. 他是一位英语教师。

3． Theyre some new books. 它们是些新书。

4． Whats (What is) your name? 你叫什么名字？

特别提醒：1．be (am, is, are)在句中可译成“是”、“在”等。如果后接一个表示地点或表示位置的介词短语，一般译成“在”，其它情况下一般译成“是”，有时也不必翻译出来。如：

Im a middle school student. 我是一名中学生。

Is Tom at home? 汤姆在家吗？

My brother is 16. 我哥哥十六岁。

2．I作为“字母”，在句中作主语时，后面的动词be不用am而要用is。如：

“I” is a letter. “I”是一个字母。

3．I与名词或代词并列时，要用are。如:

Daniel and I are good friends. 丹尼尔和我是好朋友。

4．and连接两个并列的单数名词或单数代词时，要用are。如：

Gao Kun and Wang Dong are not in the same class.

高坤和王冬不在同一个班。

You and she are both students. 你和她都是学生。

5．英语中表示运算结果时，无论数字是多少，动词be都用单数形式is。如：

——What is three and five? 三加五等于几？

——Its eight. 等于八。
