A mentor to gifted students steps down点燃天赋青年的未来之路

每年春天,美國各地七年级学子都会挑战卡罗琳·D.布拉德利(CDB)奖学金。在邦妮·拉斯金的引领下,该奖学金成就了众多学术之星。

Every spring, seventh graders acrossthe United States apply for a Caroline D.Bradley (CDB) Scholarship. The four?yearscholarship enables students to attend thehigh school of their choice. Between 25and 30 seventh graders are chosen annuallyby the Institute for Educational Advancement(IEA), which administers theprogram. After 18 years at the Institute,Bonnie Raskin, the CDB Scholarship programdirector, is retiring.

The IEA, which is based in Pasadena,California, is a nonprofit organization. Itsgoal is to meet the needs of gifted studentsacross the country. For generations of CDBScholars, Raskin has served as an invaluableadvisor and role model. She, in turn,is proud of the students who are able tofind an academic path they truly love.

Before joining the IEA, Raskin was atelevision producer. She said that the rolehelped her strengthen her communicationskills.“ You have an opportunity to do lotsof different things in your lifetime. You cantake skills from one place and apply themto another,” Raskin said.

Raskin hopes that more students willapply to the CDB Scholarship, which opensdoors for gifted students and helps themflourish. For seventh graders interested inapplying, applications are due on April 10,2024.
