如何用英语表达“说”

汉语中的“说”，在英语中有多种表达方式。对此，笔者进行了如下总结，以期同学们能够准确运用。

一、say

say表示“说，讲”时，多侧重说话的具体内容。用作及物动词时，其后可以接名词、代词或从句作宾语。例如：

Could you say it again， please？

请再说一遍好吗？

She said she would be here at seven o clock.

她说她将在七点钟到达这里。

常见的固定搭配有：①say to sb.意为“对某人说”。例如：

I said nothing to her about it.

关于这件事，我什么都没对她说。②It is said that意为“据说”。例如：

It is said that Cang Jie created the Chinese character.

据说，中国汉字是仓颉发明的。

③that is to say 意为“换句话说，也就是说”。例如：

Next Wednesday， that is to say， the 5th of April.

下周三，也就是四月五日。

④As the saying goes 意为“俗话说，常言道”。例如：

As the saying goes，“Failure is the mother of success.”

俗话说：“失败是成功之母”。

⑤ say no more 意为“不用多说，别再说了”。例如：

Say no more， I know all about you.

你不必多说，你的事我全都知道了。

二、speak

speak意为“说话，讲话”，侧重说的动作、说的方式以及说的能力，还可以表示在庄重场合中的发言，故它又有“发言、演说”之意。用作及物动词时，其后可以直接跟某种语言作宾语。例如：

Could you speak slowly？

你能说慢点吗？

How fluently she speaks English！

她的英语说得多么流利啊！

常见的固定搭配有：①speak to sb.意为“和某人说话”。例如：

That s no way to speak to your mother！不能那样跟你妈妈说话！

②speak for 意为“为……说话，代表……讲话”。例如：

I speak for all 2，000 members of our com-pany.

我代表我们公司的2000名成员发言。

③speak up意为“大声说”，相当于“speak loudly”。例如：

Please speak up so that the people sitting at the back can hear you.

请大声点，这样坐在后排的人就能够听见你说的话。

④nothing /none to speak of 意为“不值一提”。例如：

She has saved a little money but nothing to speak of.

她存了一点钱，不过数目不值一提。

⑤speak your mind 意为“有话直说，说心里话”。例如：

Speak your mind， we will be heard.

有话直说，我们会认真听的。

三、talk

talk 意为“对话，交谈”，侧重两人或多人间的说话或聊天。用作及物动词时，其后可以接名词或代词作宾语。常见的固定搭配有：

①talkaboutsth./sb.表示“谈论某事”。例如： She doesntliketotalkaboutherprivatelife.她不愿谈及她的私生活。

②talkto/withsb.表示“和某人交谈”。例如： I want to have a talk with/ to you alone.

我想要和你单独谈一谈。

③talk over表示“商量，讨论”。例如：

Let s get together and talk it over.

大家聚在一起商量商量吧。

talk of 表示“谈及，说到”，常用于引出新话题。例如：

Talking of Jane， I met her in Shanghai last week.

说到简，我上星期在上海遇到她了。

⑤talk into表示“說服，劝服”。例如：

She is trying to talk me into changing my mind.

她正试图说服我改变主意。

四、tell

tell意为“告诉、讲述”，侧重说给别人听，常用作及物动词，其后可以接双宾语。常见的固定搭配有：

①tellsb. sth.=tellsth. to sb.意为“告诉某人某事”。例如：

I told her my name.=I told my name to her.

我告诉了她我的名字。

②tell sb.（not）to do sth.意为“告诉某人（不）做某事”。例如：

My mother often tells me not to play with fire.

我妈妈经常告诉我不要玩火。

③tell a lie意为“说谎”。例如：

In any case you mustn t tell a lie.

无论什么情况，你都不该撒谎。

④tell the truth意为“说实话”。例如：

To tell the truth，I don treally like the dress.

说实话，我并不喜欢这条裙子。

⑤tell a story意为“讲故事”。例如：

Would you like to tell a story？

你想讲个故事吗？

当然，英语中的“说”除了使用 say， tell， talk， speak外，还有其他的表达方式。这就要求同学们平时多阅读、多总结、多积累，并掌握其区别和用法，这样在运用时就能游刃有余。
