Delia Henderson lived with her parents. Shehad turned 14 years old. Like every 14-year-old，Delia also had a dream. Delia dreamt of taking partin the “Dance World cup”. It was a great dancecompetition which attracted1 the best dancersaround the world.

Delia and her family had just finishedcelebrating Delias 14th birthday. It had becomelate， and everyone was tired. Delia was in her roomlying on her bed when she heard loud noises. Hermom rushed in and told her there was anearthquake！ Delia along with her family rushed outof the building， luckily on time. The moment theystepped out of the building it collapsed2. Her familyheld hands and ran somewhere far， to a wide plain3land. Delia had hurt her leg. Her dad told them towait while he went to help some people. Momdisagreed but he didnt listen. The shakingstopped. Delia， her sister and mom were relieved，but dad hadnt returned yet.

Delia had lost her dad and injured4 herleg badly.

Delia and her family moved to another city.The doctor told that Delia had injured her legterribly and it had to be amputated5. Losing herfather devastated6 her and because of her leg shewasnt sure if she would dance again.

In a years time they settled7 down and begana new life. Delia learnt how to walk with the injuredleg but gave up on becoming a dancer.

迪莉婭·亨德森和她的父母住在一起。她已经年满14 岁。就像每个14 岁的孩子一样，迪莉娅也有一个梦想。迪莉娅梦想参加“舞蹈世界杯”。这是一项大型舞蹈比赛，吸引了全世界最优秀的舞者。

迪莉娅和家人刚刚庆祝完她的14 岁生日。天色已晚，每个人都累了。当突然听到巨响时，迪莉娅正躺在自己房间的床上。她妈妈冲了进来，告诉她发生了地震！幸运的是，迪莉娅和她的家人及时冲出了大楼。在他们走出大楼的那一刻，大楼就倒塌了。她的家人牵着手跑到很远，来到一片开阔的平地。迪莉娅的腿受伤了。她爸爸让他们等着，他去帮一些人。妈妈不同意，但他不听。震动停止了。迪莉娅、妹妹和妈妈都松了一口气，但爸爸还没回来。

迪莉娅失去了爸爸，腿也受了重伤。

迪莉娅和家人搬家到了另一个城市。医生说迪莉娅的腿受了重伤，必须截肢。失去爸爸令迪莉娅伤心欲绝，而因为她的腿，她不确定自己是否还能再跳舞。

一年后，他们安顿了下来，开始了新的生活。迪莉娅学会了如何用受伤的腿走路，但放弃了成为一名舞者。

One day， Delia saw a notice， saying that the“Dance World Cup”would be heldin her city. Painful memories flashed through her mind. It hurt her that she couldntlive her dream because of her injured leg. However， her mother said， “You learnt towalk with your injured leg， so why not learn to dance with it？”

Delia knew it was true but walking was hard， and dancing would be harder.Anyhow， she decided to participate8. She was given a month， which was the hardestmonth of her life. She practiced a lot.

“Mom， Im very scared，”Delia said to her mother as she was on her way tothe venue9. “It doesnt matter， you just give your best！ ”saidher mother.

Delia was shivering10 with fright11， as she walked up to thestage12. Then， she felt as if someone held her hand and said to her，“Dear， you are living your dream. Dont waste it because of yourfear. I am right here and will always be by your side.”It soundedlike her fathers voice.

The music began and she began to dance beautifully. Themusic stopped and the crowd， including the judges13， stood up andclapped14 for her. It was the best moment of her life. She got offstage and her mom hugged her crying， and said，“I am so proud ofyou， dear.”

In an hours time， a judge came up on stage and announced，“There are 3 selected15 from 500 people， the first...， second... andthe third winner is an inspiration for all of us， with a wooden legshe killed the dance floor. She is none other than DeliaHenderson！ ”Delia couldnt believe what had happened. She wasliving her dream！

Delia didnt win the Dance World Cup but surely woneveryones heart.

一天，迪莉娅看到一则布告，说“舞蹈世界杯”将在她所在的城市举行。痛苦的记忆闪过她的腦海。由于腿受伤，她无法实现梦想，这让她很伤心。然而，她的妈妈说：“你学会了用受伤的腿走路，那为什么不学着用它跳舞呢？”

迪莉娅知道确实是这样，但走路很难，跳舞会更难。无论如何，她决定参加。

她有一个月的时间，这是她一生中最艰难的一个月。她进行了很多练习。

“妈妈，我很慌。”迪莉娅在前往赛场的路上对妈妈说。“没关系，你只要尽力就可以了！”她的妈妈说。

迪莉娅走上舞台时吓得瑟瑟发抖。然后，她觉得似乎有人握住她的手并对她说：“亲爱的，你正在实现你的梦想。不要因为害怕而浪费机会。我就在这里，永远在你身边。”那个声音听起来像是她爸爸的声音。

音乐响起，她开始优美地起舞。音乐停了，包括评委在内的所有人都站起来为她鼓掌。那是她一生中最美好的时刻。她走下舞台，妈妈抱着她哭着说：“亲爱的，我为你感到骄傲。”

一小时后，评委上台宣布：“我们从500 人中选出了3 位，第一名……，第二名……第三位获奖者对我们所有人而言都是一种激励，她用一条木腿惊艳了整个舞池。她就是迪莉娅·亨德森！”迪莉娅不敢相信发生了什么。她实现了自己的梦想！

迪莉娅没有赢得舞蹈世界杯冠军，但肯定赢得了每个人的心。
