如何保护你的文化

你穿的衣服，你家中的家具摆设，或者你使用的手势，这些都或多或少地显示了你的文化属性。文化在某种程度上塑造了你我。

1 Look at any objects in your house， meals you eat， or gestures you use， and youll find evidence of culture. Cultural traditions and perspectives have shaped who you are. Learn more about them and how you can keep them strong.

Participate in traditions

2 Share your cultures art and technology. Each culture has its own clothing， music， visual arts， religions， and many more unique characteristics. Other members of your culture will be overjoyed to teach or talk about their hobbies， their jobs， their projects， and what they do for fun.

3 Attend or organize major events. Your country， tribe， or immigrant ethnic group almost certainly celebrates major holidays or cultural festivals.

4 Spend time with other members of the community. The best way to preserve your culture is to keep it alive.

Record your culture

5 Choose a focus. You can record anything youve discovered through your research and life， no matter how small it seems. What you cant do is write down everything about a culture. Theres just too much to say. Most people choose one of two directions instead： a personal history of ones own experience， or a familys; a detailed look at one aspect of the culture， such as cooking， jokes， or any other subtopic.

6 Decide on a medium. You can use calligraphy， oral storytelling， or another traditional medium to make the recording a personal cultural experience as well. Or you can put your work on a website， DVD， or another digital form. This lets you share your cultural story with people from all around the world.

7 Accept change. The dialogue around passing on culture often sounds defeatist （失敗主义的）. Cultures are “endangered” and need “preserving” before they die out. Real challenges and threats do exist， but dont assume that all change is bad. Culture helps people adapt to the world around them.

8 In a word， preserving your culture is important. Your culture is a part of your identity. Dont lose it.
