SWS Completes Year-Round Ship Delivery

On November 16, “Proteus Stephanie”, the fourth 119,000 DWT Aframax LNG dual-fuel powered refined oil tanker built by CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding(SWS) for BOCOM Financial Leasing, was named and delivered.So far, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has completed and delivered a total of 17 ships (units) and 3.002 million DWT marine and offshore engineering equipment this year,completing the 2022 ship delivery target one and a half months ahead of schedule.
“Proteus Stephanie”independently developed and designed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, has an overall length of 249.95 m, a molded breadth of 44 m, a molded depth of 21.4 m, design draft of 13.5 m, a load capacity of 119,000 tons, design speed of 14.5 knots, classified with LR and CCS. The series of ships adopt new body lines, vertical bow, energy-saving stator, gas mode meets the IMO TIERⅢ specification and multi-loadline requirements.
“Proteus Stephanie” is the sixth dual-fuel-powered ship completed and delivered by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding this year, with eight more currently under construction. Therefore,2022 has become a harvest year for Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding to fully turn into green and low-carbon ship construction.
This year, confronted with a severe epidemic situation, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding resolutely implemented the CSSC Party Group"s instructions to the effect of coordinating epidemic prevention and control and resumption of work and production, aiming at the annual target tasks, working in a creative way, minimizing the impact of the epidemic, striving to complete the annual targets. By focusing on the annual operating guidelines of"consolidating the dominant position of large cruise ships and improving the profitability of civilian ships and offshore eigineering" and the management theme of "refining the system, innovating management and control", the shipyard has firmly implemented the development strategy of "cruise ship leading, one body and two wings", continued to promote digital transformation, information technology integration and fine management, fully launched three campaigns -- making decisive efforts in cruises, completing dual-fuel ship construction, kicking off container ship, demonstrating a good momentum of cruise ships, civilian ships and offshore engineering keeping pace with one another.
Large cruise ships have entered the era of double-cruise construction.On August 8, the second domestic large cruise ship laid down, showing that China"s shipbuilding industry has initially mastered core technologies of the design and construction of large cruise ships, and realizing the batch and serialized construction is just around the corner. At present,the interior decoration project of the first domestic large cruise ship is progressing smoothly. The public areas such as passenger stairways and passage ways, theater, bow restaurant,and special restaurant are provided with bulkhead plate closing conditions, and the prototype of the internal scene has emerged.
The innovative guiding position in the global large bulk carrier realm was consolidated. On January 28, the world"s first 209,000 DWT Newcastlemax new generation dual-fuel powered bulk carrier independently developed,designed and built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding with independent IPR was signed for delivery. On March 3, China’s first 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax upgraded intelligent buk carrier was named and delivered.CCS granted the additional class notation of "Smart Ship (smart engine room, smart energy efficiency) and Ship Network Security (S)", becoming China’s first large bulk carrier that has obtained the network security class notation. A series of breakthroughs have endowed the world brand ship type with the new notations of "green,environment-friendly, energy saving,secured and smart", which has further consolidated the innovation leading position in the field of global large bulk carriers.
Entering the key year of the"kicking off container ship" fast lane.The 7000TEU container ship is another leading ship type of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, with high efficiency,economy, and environmental friendliness characteristics, favored by the market, and the shi p orders held by the company ranked first in the world. To date, 12 ships have laid down, blowing the horn of continuous start of container ship construction.
"General-purpose" FPSOs were designed and built in a mature and batch fashion. On January 21, the third Fast4Ward®"general-purpose" FPSO built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding was signed and delivered; the fourth ship in the series has been undocked and will be delivered in April 2023; the contract of the fifth has taken effect, which has become another brand ship made in China, and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has established itself as the world"s leading enterprise in the mature and batch design and construction of"general-purpose" FPSO.
The strong offshore engineering equipment design and construction strength was highlighted. On September 7, the JU2000E-type offshore jack-up drilling platform built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding was officially delivered to China Oilfield Services Limited. So far, the company"s three-type 13 offshore jack-up drilling platforms, including JU2000E, CJ46 and CJ50, have all been completed and delivered,demonstrating its solid strength of offshore engineering equipment design and construction.
The development of new ships and the optimization and upgrading of main ship types have achieved great results.At present, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has completed new ship development of 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax methanol fuel powered bulk carrier, 9200CEU dual fuel powered PCTC, innovative 300,000 DWT VLCC, and won AiP certification of relevant classification societies, further enriching the company"s newbuilding spectrum and technical reserves.
