There are many different kinds of traditional（传统的） operas（戏剧） in China. Peking Opera is the most famous one.

There are five main roles（主要角色） in Peking Opera. They are：

Dan（旦）

main female（女性的） role

Mo（末）

male（男性的） role

Sheng（生）

main male role

Jing（净）

painted-face（花脸） male role

Chou（丑）

comedic（喜剧的） male role

Facial makeup（脸谱） is very important in Peking Opera. It has many different colors. We can see red， purple， black， white， blue， green， yellow， pink， gray， gold and silver on the facial makeup.

In Peking Opera， there are so many acting rules（表演规则） on stage（舞台）， such as how to sit down， open a door， ride a horse， row（劃） a boat.
